Well I had the grandsons over Sturday night and Sunday. We took them to the Como Park Zoo and COnservatory. This place is awesome. It is a zoo, a Conservatory with many different flowers etc from all over the worls. A butterfly room to walk among the various butterflies from all over the globe as well. A huge picnic area, an outdoor frog pond and park. A lot to visit and enjoy the sunny day. We all had a blast. Did you have a good family orientated weekend at all? Do you have grandkids at all? How many do you have? Here's the link to the zoo/park etc we went to. This is a photo we took in front of the Conservatory. It was a bright sunshiney day to say the least as you can tell from the glare in this photo. http://www.comozooconservatory.org/como_zoo/visitor.shtml HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I don't have grandkids as I'm only 35..lol. We did have a family weekend though. Went hiking for 2 miles Saturday to the top of Bald Rock here in Alabama. Then we all saw the new batman movie. Was a pretty good weekend.

It would definitely make it harder for most places. You co do part of the trail we did though...I think anyway. It has a wheel chair accessible wooden bridge the whole way to the rocks. You could take your time and not get winded or anything.

Tiger - photo of tiger taken at Potter Park Zoo in Lansing Michigan.
Hi Bob - I have 5 grandchildren but don't get to see 3 because they moved out of state. The other 2 (3 & 5) have been with me since Friday last week and will God willing be here for at least a few months. Exhausting for me but sooooo much better for them. I love the zoo and actually took these 2 grandchildren to zoo in Lansing last summer but afriad I won't be able to afford it this year gas prices the way they are and not working much at all last few months. This photo isn't one of my best but one I took last year of my favorite animal - a tiger.

That all sounds like alot of fun. Two of my grandsons were here for the weekend. They stayed from Thursday until Sunday. We didn't do anything special. Their dad lives here too so they don't just come to see me, they come to see all of us. I went out of town with my mom on Saturday, we went to some flea markets down by Cincinnati, lone day and long drive. We had a nice time and its quality time spent with my mom. Tomorrow we are planning on going to the county fair, my DIL and her two kids will be going. Its supposed to be cooler, I just hope we don't get rain. Its nice that you had a good time, the time spent with the grandkids is always precious.

Okay. I looked at your profile and saw OSSEO. So are you living in Osseo now then? I am in C00n Rapids not too far from that city. I fished the river in that area when I used to fish. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

There is a place in Oklahoma City called the Crystal Gardens. You walk in and it is like a nature paradise. Of course they keep it warm and humid so all the plants can grow in optimal conditions. There is even a waterfall inside. You can cross over a wooden bridge, see fish in ponds...It is absolutely amazing.

Hi GRANDPA BOB! That is such a wonderful place to bring the kids and the whole family and spend time together. I love seeing many butterflies and I hope that I could take my nieces and nephews in a butterfly farm located miles and miles away from where we live. The conservatory which is like yours is very, very far form my place and it will take a lot of planning before we could actually go there. haha.. Take care and God Bless!

Hello Grandpa Bob, looks like you are enjoying your weekend quite well. I'm sure you had plenty of fun with your grandchildren. Well, I don't have a grandchild yet. My son is still 5 years old. Me and my wife brought him to the beach last sunday and just enjoyed the sea water and and sand for the rest of the day. Best to you!

I have two grandsons and a g-niece that is just like a granddaughter. I get to see the boys at least once a week (they live in another town) and babysit the girl during the week (most of the time). We do have a good time when any of them are here because i let them do things (paint and other crafts) that their parents refuses to let them do at home because of the mess.

I see my grandsons when ever I get the chance. They spilt between their moms and dads alternate weekends since the divorce so I don't see them but every other week usually. Messes? That's what grandparents are for. I don't mind a mess now and then. As long as the mess stays off the furniture. HAHAHAHA! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I have tried over and over to explain to these parents the function of a grandparent but they can't seem to grasp the concept, so we wait until they are out of the way to have our fun!

I guess Como is truly a great place to spend weekend with the family. We don't usually go to park or zoo during weekends. What we usually do during weekends or on special day is to go to beach. That what is we have here, a lot of resorts and beach clubs. Our house in the province also stands by the beach. So everytime we go there, it's beach party for the kids. KEEP SMILING = NEIL

I just got married and do not have kids. But this makes me remember my parents took me to the zoo when i was a kid. The zoo is awsome for kids. I was so excited to see the tigers, peacocks and zebras. But my favorite animal is monkeys. We took a lots of pictures. Now my parents always take them out and recall those wonderful moment.

I have a friend that I have known sence about the 3rd grade. She has a grand-daughter and her greand-daughter and I adopted each. So Now I have a grand-daughter! I am also the local Ice Cream Vendor in town. So I get to treat my little Grand-daughter to ice cream when I am on her street! It is awesome!

Sounds like you all had a great time. I remember my kids going with their grandparents to the science museum and such, when they were very young. They always had a blast. I always enjoyed taking them to the zoo and, all the science places we have around here. I have no grandchildren, yet, and, may never but, that is fine. I would rather my kids not have babies, if they are not ready or, don't want them. My daughter is dating a young man who has a daughter that I adore, though. He asked me just today what "Granny" name I wanted his daughter to call me. I thought that was really sweet that he would consider me one of her grandmothers. Anyway.....sorry, I got a little off subject there. I was just a teeny weeny bit jealous reading all the grandparents' posts here.*S*
