Parents, what steps have you taken in the horrible event that your children go missing? We have so many resources now, it's hard to know what we should use to best be prepared. And the answer is ... as many as possible! Check your local police station and see if they have child registry. We have all of our kids registered with the police. The file has a current picture, description, dna sample and fingerprint kit. Keep a current picture handy at all times .. in your purse, wallet, or close at hand. Of course, talk to your children about not talking to strangers. Set up safe words for when someone other than you will be picking them up. When going out into crowded places, like a fair, etc, set up a meeting place accessible to everyone in case anyone gets separated. Older kids, get them a cell phone! Many cell phones have tracking capabilities, so you can easily log onto a website and easily track exactly where your child is. Make sure your children know your first and last names, your home address and your phone number, and any cell phone numbers. They need to know ways to contact you immediately if they become separated from you! What other tips do you have in the event that a child goes missing?
