Getting a Pet???

We are not allowed to have pets where we live , like cats and dogs, but I was wondering what would be a good pet to get with a 2 year old that would not be against our lease. I was thinking some fish, but I would be the one cleaning it and everything and I really do not need anymore work.

Any pet that you get will require extra work from you and the rest of the household, regardless of what you get. That said, I would suggest something really simple and easy to care for like fish or a hamster- they have short life spans, they're small and easily portable, and their messes are pretty easy to clean. You could have your child feed the pet to teach your 2-year-old how to handle animals. I personally would recommend the fish; they're pretty to look at and you don't have to physically handle them too often.

My son has been wanting a puppy for quite some time but I refuse to get one. We are allowed pets in our apartment building. I know I will be the one taking care of it and not him, and I don't have the time or patience to take care of one. I might consider fish though, that's a thought.

Any pet you get is going to be work. If you don't want additional "work" then don't get a pet. Fish or a lizard of some kind would be okay and they are not a lot of work. Fish need to be fed daily and their tanks cleaned about once a month. Do not get a hamster, gerbil or other nocturnal creature of any kind.

I think you have to pay some time and clean, feed for any kinds of pets. Fish is already very convenient to have. Because you don't have to feed them so often, otherwise maybe they will die because of it. As to cleaning the aquarium, you don't have to do it so often, too. And perhaps a smaller aquarium will be already good enough for you. I love China

My granddaughter has a hamster. It needs to be fed and have its cage cleaned, but that's all. You would have to clean the cage, but your 2-year-old could feed it. It would teach him to be gentle and careful with animals. I would never let them be together unsupervised, though. And be careful; hamsters can escape their cages.

If you get a good pump for a fish tank and an algea eater, you would only need to clean it about every 4-6 weeks. You could get a hampster but again, you would have to clean it's cage also about every 4-6 weeks. Both are pretty easy to care for and a 2 year old would probably enjoy either one. Any pet that you get will be work. My daughter is 6 and she had a water turtle. We have to buy gold fish to feed it, but other than that, it's pretty easy to care for too.
