Do you enjoy your job or does it just pay the bills?

I enjoy my job, I work in IT which is what I studied/majored in so I am happy to be working in the industry after having done a number of non-IT related roles prior to completing my studies and shortly afterwards It however does not fit in with my lifestyle (ridiculous hours)so I do it more for the fact that I have to pay the bills and keep a roof on our heads and food on the table. (and this part I dislike..) What about you? Do you love your job? or does it just pay the bills? What do you dislike about your job?

No, and NO. Glad to hear someone loves their work and lives. It makes up for my misery. I work 3 jobs... house cleaning, pizza cook, and "demo Lady" and still can't make enough to pay the bills. I'm constantly living from one disconnect notice to the next. And NO, I do NOT enjoy cleaning other people's toilets, making pizzas for ungrateful customers who don't tip well, and giving out samples in the stores to people who try to ignore me.

I currently do 3 jobs and am glad to say I like all three of them. My main is working as a deputy head in a children's day nursery. I knew when I trained in childcare that the wages were terrible and they weren't wrong, especially in our area. Even as deputy I am on just a pittance and only slightly above minimum wage. The job though is so rewarding, ensuring that the children in our care are well looked after, individual needs are being met, and helping them to get a good start in life. The most rewarding thing is when they do something for the first time, and I witness it. No matter what my mood in the morning working here normally cheers me. I also babysit for a company, and this is handy for the extra money to subsidise my original income and I still get to work with children, so it's great. My third I am currently training in for a career change. The reason for changing is that as much as I love working directly with the children, I find due to health reasons that it gets too tiring. Also as much as I love it, I seriously need to be on better wages, as I struggle monthly. So the 3rd job is training to be an assessor, so I can help new childcare students train to be qualified professionals and then let them be the ones to get the rewards and have the joys of looking after children. I have to say I am loving the job so far and the wages are double what I earn in the nursery so this is a top bonus. One of the things I dislike about the nursery is the early mornings. I have to be there to open the nursery at 7.30 which is fine, but once trained in my new job, and I leave the nursery then I shall be in control of my own hours pretty much and will only need to do an early if I choose. I probably will want to assess some students first thing to see them greeting the parents and children and setting up, but it will be my choice and I will be able to leave again after. I wouldn't want to work in a job where I wasn't happy, and so this is why I have put in the efforts and all the courses and study to get where I am, so that I can fulfill a career that I love.

I have a part time job to get me through college and to save up for University. I work in retail in a party section. The party section is quite fun and I really enjoy it, but when I have to go on the main section I am not quite as happy as it is boring and I do not know much as I am not specialised in that area, so I am constantly having to ask other people. It pays my phone bill and that is about it as that is the only bill I need to pay.

The job that I have just pays the job. When I first started a year ago it was fun and enjoyed it. But over the year the way the company treats the employees it really turned me off. Right now I hate it and looking for another. Right now it just pays the bills.

I don't really love my job anymore. Like you, I worked in non-IT fields before. Now that I finally doing what I studied before, its not as exciting as it used to be. Long running projects with constant requirement changes irks me. What I am doing now is only for the money.

Yes i do enjoy my job as it is a challenging one with new targets and opportunities on a daily basis. This is something which i need in my job. I am a person who is responsible for managing costs and am always finding ways to cut down costs in this infaltionary enviournment. It may be as increase in effeciency in human jobs or on the production line. The only thing which i find irritating is that it is not easy to spare time for my family. I would be much happier if i get more time to be with my family.

I love my job and what I do. It also pays pretty good. When I first went to school it was for Computer Sciences. Then I had a family and went back to school to persue my true love - Accounting. I'm a CPA and LOVE it! I think it's important to like what you do, it creates less stress in your life.

I enjoy my job a lot. I work overtime sometimes cause I like it so well. If I would not have a job the bills wont get paid and I would not have health insurance.

I love my job. I work for Wal Mart as a Customer Service Manager overnights. The other customer service manager is great to work with and we have 4 wonderful cashiers. We are almost like a family. The managers pretty much leave us alone because we have the front end running like clockwork. Everyone helps each other and we get our work done plus help the other overnight associates.

I definitely work as a means to an end. Which of course is paying my bills and taking care of my family. At times, I enjoy my job. At times I don't. Overall it isn't bad, it just isn't where my interest lay.

I absolutely love my job! I worked in my industry for many years before I started my own company in the same line of work. My job is very fulfilling as I get to help people and make a difference in their lives for them and their families. I have standard business hours but I don't necessarily have to be at the office at all times. My schedule is very flexible so I am able to volunteer in my community and at my son's school. The pay is very rewarding and as a result I am debt free, except for the mortgages on investment properties that I own (and they pay their own bills)and have very diverse portfolio. There is nothing to dislike about my job I LOVE MY JOB.

I love my job but not the working environment. Too much politics in my workplace have built up the work stress. I don't like. But overall the workload is not too much yet I can learn lots of things,so until this moment, I still can say I love this job. But of course, another reason I am taking up this job is because I need to pay my monthly bills, rental fee and earn a living. Nothing comes easy, this is life perhaps.

I try to make the most out of my job... it may be very boring... but the flexible time is good enough for me... since i can spend more time with my baby... unlike if i get a job that i really enjoy... but would require me to spend longer hours in the office... may salary pays the bill so it is okay...

I recently became unemployed, but while employed, I can say with certainty, that I did not like my job. I have always worked in finance, and it can become very stressfull when dealing with other people's money. When I worked as a payroll administrator, I really hated that job. Being in charge of payroll you must always be available in order for payroll to go out as scheduled. that means if the pay week fell on a holiday, everyone else will have a nice long three day week end, I would have to work, because the week was cut short because of the holiday. I did not have a back up person, so the responsibility every holiday was on me. I was entitled to five weeks vacation, but again because the payroll must get out, I was not able to take a full week or two week vacation. Very frustrating. My next job, hopefully will not be in finance.

I really like my job. Somedays I might get stressed and complain a bit about this or that, but for the most part it is great. Today I got to work on coming up with catchy phrases for a project. It was more like "fun" then work. I love the challenge it offers and the way I get to work on something new all the time.

It depends on the day you ask if I like my job or not. Usually I do like my job, but as time goes on I feel myself not liking my job too much and its just there to pay the bills. This is because of the field I work in - the bureacracy that has become such a big part of my job over the past few years makes it unbearable at times. Plus the hours (which includes every third week being on-call 24/7) can be absolutely killer. My hubby is going to be getting his MBA in the next year and we hope to be at a position in which I would be able to just do part time work and/or volunteer.
