The movies are very different from the novels. The characters are nowhere near as developed. The plotlines are different. Each book and movie end up about the same but the journey to the end is very different. Also there are tons of awesome scenes and information in the books the movies lack.

I like harry potter books than watching the movie.. movie does not contain every detail of the book (ofcourse we shud nt expect also).. But first three movies of harry potter covered most of the details but 4th movie missed so many important details..

YES! There is so much in the books that they do not put in the movies. If you just look at the size of the books they get bigger and bigger yet the movies stay the same length. You can just imagine how much of the story is being left out.

The first and second movies probably stayed the truest (so far) to the books. But even then, there are so many cool details that just can't get packed into a feature length film. If you even sort of enjoy the movies, you should really read the books, especially the later ones. They make the movies even more enjoyable in my opinion because you know so much more of the background and character thoughts. You even meet great characters that are totally left out of the movies.
