I personally feel that milk has its own taste when you drink it plain. Adding sugar would spoil that taste so i usually dont add sugar to it when i drink it plain but if i am adding some cocoa powder or something then i add half a spoon of sugar not more. But my hubby has got used to drinking milk with two full spoons of sugar in it. Sometimes i forget and put in only one spoon and he gets mad at it... So what do you think? Does adding sugar to milk enhance the taste or spoil the taste?

Hi friend, Everyone have their opinion about one thing. What i feel you may dislike it.You would normally get different opinions on one situation.Coming to myself i add sugar and some chocolate powder to milk while i drink.I can't drink milk painly.I add 2 spoons for myself and to my family members i add 1 spoon.Ofcourse taking too much of sugar is also not good for health. It won't spoil the taste of milk i suppose. Have a nice day

Well ,I strongly suggest better don't add sugar to milk and it might be some false reaction and its cause diabetes easily. But anyway , if you wish to enchance the taste of milk , you can add some cornflakes or chocolate powder.

LOL! I am like your hubby as far as sugar in the milk is concerned. I also prefer taking two spoons of sugar, even if coco powder is being added to the milk. Since childhood, I have become habitual of taking milk with sugar, so it becomes difficult to take it without sugar. I think, our body need gulucose and two spoons of sugar cannot be termed as excess sugar. Actually, sugar gives us cabohyderates, which help function our body in a better way. However, I have developed a habit of taking curd (which also a product of milk) without adding either salt or sugar. I enjoy it plain.

I've never heard of people drinking plain milk with sugar in! That's strange. Personally, I love the taste of milk and I also like its health benefits. Milk is good for your teeth because it contains calcium, but if sugar is added to it it kind of defeats the purpose. My partner has three spoons of sugar in his coffee and tea and whenever I try to get away with just putting in two sugars, he can tell and gets angry! But yeah, for me sugar in plain milk would ruin it. I love the taste of milk.

I Agree with You,Naseeha,Milk on it's own is a balanced drink and doesn't really need sweetening. However,I also like the sweet taste of condensed Milk, and enjoy sweets and desserts made from it,ie. Fudge,Tablet(Scotland!) Toffee,etc..I Like Milkshakes (Especially Chocolate Milk) which would be sweetened, but have never put sugar into a glass of milk to improve the taste.Maybe I'm missing out on something?!

You can try it but you will realise that adding sugar only spoils the taste of milk...

Goodness, I must be behind times. I have never heard of adding sugar to your milk. But in reading the responses on this, I think I am the only one who doesn't add sugar to my milk. lol Still I don't think I would like it with sugar added because sometimes I do add sugar to my cold cereal with milk. But I don't like the milk that is left after I eat the cereal because it tastes too sweet. This is a very interesting question though. I'll be checking back to see what other's say as more people comment on your discussion.

When I was younger I loved drinking sweetened milk or having a glass of chocolate milk. Though now that I am older I don't much care for the taste of it, so just drink plain milk or will make a fruit smoothie with it from time to time. Just depends on the mood I am in when I get up in the morning, since that is the only time I have anything the requires milk.

I agre with you. Milk has it's distinct taste and adding sugar will just make it taste differently. Adding cocoa wold make it a chocolate drink and not just plain milk. . I love low fat milk and at times, I give in to full cream milk too. It depends on my mood. However, I really prefer cold milk over warm or hot milk because I like to drink it straight up.

That sounds horrible! I have heard of people adding sugar to milk but can't understand why, it tastes so good as it is naturally. I will add sugar if I'm making hot cocoa but not at any other time. If your husband doesn't like the way you make it, he should do it himself!

well I cannot drink milk without sugar but also I cannot drink milk with too much sugar.I only add 1/2tsp sugar for my cup of milk, then only I can feel the real taste.By the way too much sugar is not good for our health too.keep healthy and cheers..

I dont drink milk much of the time, only if i am in a situation where i cannot get tea or coffee, i opt for milk and with sugar, but i dont think there is any taste difference in milk with and without sugar according to me...but earlier, when i was a kid i used to drink fresh milk before even boiling it, which i very well remember had a very different subtle taste, which i really liked

yes that would have a different kind of taste. I too used to avoid drinking milk but to make up for the calcium i have started drinking a glass a day...

For me, sugar enhances the taste of milk. I like drinking plain fresh milk straight from their containers, but with a little sugar, it sweetens things up.

I share the same opinion with you. I think adding sugar into the milk will definitely spoil the natural taste of milk. I see no point adding sugar into the milk. I never practice this before and I don't think milk will taste nice with sugar added in.

I have never heard of putting sugar in milk. The only time I even use milk is in my cereal. I don't like to drink milk, but every once in a while I get in the mood for a nice glass of chocolate milk, so I will drink that. Thinking more about this, when I was younger I would eat cereal with milk and put sugar ontop. I guess it makes the milk sweeter.

I don't drink milk with or without sugar I don't like the taste of it. The only way I will drink milk is as hot chocolate I do make my hot chocolate out of milk instead of water it makes it creamier. I don't even finish drinking the milk that is left in a cereal bowl like some people do I put it down the sink.

You're on to something Neseeha. When I want milk I have a bowl of cereal-no sugar coded or I'll drink a cup with Nestle Quik or I'll have a half of cup with some cookies or cake. I don't like drinking milk by itself, don't like the taste. I tried Whole milk, reduce, soy, low-fat, non-fat I just don't like the taste. Thanks for the discussion its a good one.

No, I dont. I do have the same feeling like yours. I'll prefer to drink the chocholate milk rather than pure milk with sugar addition.
