I am afraid of posting a discussion on mylot

Something terrible happened to me here on mylot. Yesterday i started a discussion on named " Our income from mylot is going to reduce....will you leave mylot???" I got very good responses. Most mylotters said that they won't leave mylot because of money. They find it fun discussing here. I was quiet happy that many mylotters share my thoughts. The comments were very enjoying for me. But suddenly that changed. Some mylotters are blaming me for posting that discussion that i am spreading false rumor. Only my title of that discussion was like false rumor. But the details were not. I don't know how they judged me that i am spreading false rumor or misleading others. In the details section i asked other mylotters opinion about what they think. I did not mislead them. Some responses took it to the wrong direction. Now I am afraid to post another discussion that interests others. So i am asking you mylotters should i stop starting a new discussion or ignore those negative responses?

well there's nothing you can do about negative responses, everyone has there own opinion. every discussion started here at mylot could go either way depending how people see it. if they were using violent words or bashing you personally then report them. even if you respond to a discussion someone might not like what you have to say and comment on it. that's what mylot is for to discuss, good or bad, positive or negative.

I can not report them who responds to my discussion. It would be unfair. For me it would mean i am disrespecting them. Don't you think so?

how is that disrespecting them? it's more like them disrespecting you, we are allowed to give our opinions but personal attacks are uncalled for an against mylot policy, if they are attacking you personally then you have a right to report them.

I don't think you should stop posting discussions. You just feel that you want to be cautious from now on. However, people who should have read everything you wrote in the discussion wouldn't react negatively. They should cut you some slack. Hehe.

I've looked that discussion up and I have to admit it didn't even sound the least bit hypothetical. If it wasn't a fact that mylot was really closing, then you should have made it clear in your discussion that it wasn't, and that it was only for the purpose of discussion. But not even once it mentioned the words, "what if". You made it sound like it's actually happening. So without facts backing up your claim, you're definitely spreading false rumor. But this shouldn't stop you from starting new discussions. Just be careful next time. And I think you owe everyone an apology.

You are right i did not use "what if" but i did used "may" many times. May be you have not noticed. Now i think it may be the reason that others misjudged me. Thanks to your point Happy mylotting

Darksorrow, I think it may have been a language barrier thing. Sometimes, those of us who don't speak English as our first language don't realize how things sound to those of us who do. Does that make sense? If you pose your discussion as a question to the general public and say "what if" or "if" or even "let's say", this thing happened, what would you do? then people would not take it that you were spreading rumors or just flat out call you a liar.

Your topic was okay, but then you must have been a little careful, instead of putting "Our income from mylot is going to reduce....will you leave mylot???" which sounds as if mylot is going to reduce our income which is indeed a false alarm, you could have put it this way, ""If our income from mylot is going to reduce....will you leave mylot???"", just could have added an if there...your topic defntly could be easily misinterpreted, but anyway, that does not mean you have to posting anymore discussions, take it just as a learning process, thats all, everyone makes mistakes, now rectify the mistakes and post quality discussions on mylot...please dont lose your heart for this simple reason come on, cheer up now

I see. I think it worked. And it's really okay. But the discussion only supported that line. Yes, there may be the word "may" but it wasn't clear enough. I think the biggest mistake is the first sentence. Your title is "Our income from mylot is going to reduce...will you leave mylot?" It's okay since you're just trying to catch people's attention. But the first sentence of your paragraph is "Yes, you read it right." It should have been something like "That may be true" or "What if that was to happen?" By saying "You read it right" was like saying that your title is a fact.

Again all i wanted was to make it interesting. I had no intention to mislead others. I described it totally in my description so everyone is clear that it was not a fact.

That is what discussion is all about. Getting different view points from all who will take the time to respond. With that comes the negative, positive and indifferent responses. I wouldn't take them personally just be yourself and write what you want to write about. Do you ever disagree with the writer in other discussions?

CoffeeAnyone those people i am talking about did not disagreed with me but thrown some word that hurt me. In case most responders disagreed with me & gave the reason why they disagree which is pleasurable to read. They also showed me that where i am wrong. They did it for fun purpose. I would have responded to those people that they mis-read what you were saying first of all and that you were sorry if the title gave them the wrong impression. And then I would continue posting discussions. When you post things publicly there are bound to be misunderstandings unfortunately, but you just do the best that you can do. Hopefully it won't ever get to the point where people are really being nasty to you for a difference of opinion, but if they are you can always report them for abuse.

I can not report abuse who responds to my discussions. It is against my rules. I won't feel good if i do that. So what i did was complained to other mylotters. They helped me to get relief.

I don't think you should stop posting. I read your discussion named "Our income from mylot is going to reduce...." 5 minutes ago, and think that you made a very good point there. I don't think it's misleading at all. So keep posting.

No, you're doing alright. Your only mistake with that discussion was badly phrasing the title. It should have been something like "If MyLot reduced its payments, would you leave?" The text of your message was clear enough that it was just speculation. Unfortunately, some people just read the title and jump in. Nothing to worry about, and think of all the extra pennies that that discussion will be putting in your account. ;-)

Misunderstandings happen from time to time when we start discussions and when we respond to them so don't let it get you down. It happens to all of us eventually. As far as negative responses, sometimes a negative response will make you think about something in a way that you didn't before so they're not always bad.

As what i know we are free to express what we want here.So you can post whatever you want to discuss just be careful not to violate their guidelines or rules.Ignore those negative feedbacks as long as you know what your doing is right and your not hurting anybody.

There will always be some people who will misunderstand these types of discussions. Part of it is because people are "skimming" messages and responding without fully reading them. Another part is because the written word is often more misunderstood than spoken word. I would just keep doing your thing and maybe re-read your posts before sending to make sure you've expressed yourself as intended.

I don't think that you should stop posting or starting new discussions because one turned sour. That discussion was in the daily mylot as top 10 I think. Don't stop aiming high because someone kicked you low. I don't know if that makes sense but I think you know what I am trying to say. Don't let others affect your hard work.

Don't worry about it. There are people here with no sense of humour at all and people that just love to show how clever they are by finding fault with others discussions. Keep posting, but just make clear that you sources aren't verified unless they are. We all have these days. But tomorrow is just around the corner.

I think the mylotters will read the posts before they response to the posts. It's better to write something you really wish to discuss and need response from the mylotters. I will response because of money too, but I will still read what is the post and what should I respond

No you shouldnt be..I would suggest you to give back a big blow to your critcizers for not writing your post..infact that was a onliner but one should read the inside content..Think of writing another such post and tell those people that you are not afraid of critics and enjoy their negative comments..Once you give them the messege that you are a right persone the criticizers themselves will know that they were wrong in pulling your legs and would definitely feel sorry for their work done to demoralize you..Anyways buddy keep the good work up..Bye take care..

I don't think you should stop posting. The question you asked was a very good discussion post but it seemed to be a little misworded. The way you said it made it seem like it was going to happen and you were asking how people felt about it rather than it being a completely hypothetical question.
