Yes, and at times it drives me crazy when the stores make a test run to see if the money is there, tie up the funds, then put through the real payment, but the money from the test run is still tied up, sometimes for an entire week. It's the credit card company's fault but it makes me angry if I can't use my card because of that. I once had $1,000 tied up for two weeks. If you call a rep, they think it's from a payment still coming through. Then I'm on the phone for half an hour explaining that it already came in long time ago! Sometimes they take care of it, sometimes they don't. So much for Capital One no hassle, yeah right:(

We had purchased some furniture and put that on the card for points. We had enough to pay it off as we had saved up for it. But that's not the point. They simply should get their system in order. We usually pay the card off in time each month, except when we had some unforeseen medical expenses. Anyhow, it sometimes happens with small purchases, too, and it accumulates. A family of five goes through a lot of groceries...

Hi skbh, I have one last year and when I quit my job, I also asked for disconnection! I was not a good user before..LOL! I am easily tempted when I am in the mall but I managed to pay my bill afterward..ANyway, it's really nice to have one, as long as we know how to discipline ourselves..LOL!

We always pay off our credit cards every month unless money is tight for one reason or another. I don't like paying interest. We also have one card that we very rarely use which is for emergencies. Since we live in Florida you never know when you'r going to have to evacuate before a storm hits.

I'm pretty responsible when it comes to credit card useage, and I only charge what I know I can pay or in emergencies. It is hard since it seems like there's no accountability, but I've learned to always pay my balance off every month, even if it means I'll go without a treat next month. I learned to manage my finances with a debit card when I was much younger, so I treat my credit card like a debit card.

I do not have any credit cards simply because I ran into a issue a few years ago that I was using creidt to pay for food and montly bills. It got out of hand real quick. I payed off the credit cards and closed the accounts. I now pay with cash at all times.

yeah sometimes it is better not to have credit cards because you can get addictive spending something with it.. but when bills come, it such a pain in the head. haha
