Do you get house flies?

Every summer I get so many house flies, it's not even funny. They are so irritating. And for the life of me I can't figure out where they are coming from. I keep my house clean, I don't have rotting food lying around. The trash is changed every other day. I have even had to put up a few of those embarassing fly strips, but the flies don't seem to go near them. I am so tired of the house flies, but I don't know how to get rid of them without using some sort of dangerous chemical, which I won't do because it would harm my children.
Do you get house flies, and what do you do about them?

Don't worry! It's not you. It's the environment.
We don't get too many here, cause they just don't
live in the area. But we get other critters
native to the area that are just as annoying.
If they get too bad, whip out the can of
hair spray. And when you see a fly, zap it
with a squirt of hair spray. That will freeze
the wings and make it almost impossible to fly.

I'd never thought of hairspray. I've been spraying glass cleaner on them hoping the amonia would kill them. It works on bees, lol. But doesn't seem to be affecting the flies. I'll try hairspray though.

I hate those flies! they come in when I have to door open, and ignore the fly papers completely. They're just SO annoying.
I haven't found a way to get rid of them, but normally they're gone by morning. I don't know whether you'd consider using one of those electric zapper things that they use in restaurants?
Just be thankful they aren't mosquitos!

Sadly I get the mosquitos too. I have a rip in my screen door, it's pretty big. All manner of insects get in here. But during the day nothing bothers us except the flies. They seem to constantly be here, and there are probably a dozen in the house at this moment. I haven't a clue where they come from or what is attracting them into my house. Whenever I clean to attempt to get rid of them, it seems to make it worse!

We get flies in the house. We normally do not have all that many, but this year they are all over the place it seems. I have been getting out the flyswatter and killing everyone that I can find before I attempt to cook anything. Then I have to wipe everything down before I can cook. I put a fly trap up outside the side door where I think they come in the most. It has gotten quite a few flies stuck to it, so I think it is catching them before they come in.

Actually so far this summer we have not done too bad for house flies, probably because as yet we have not had a summer and it has been damp and cold. This week though the weather has been warmer and it is supposed to be this way all week Yey! So I expect if the weather stays warmer then the flys will suddenly appear out of no where!

Our weather has been rather wet as well, although honestly it can't make up it's mind. We just had a down pour... actually we were out when it happened and stuck in the car for half an hour waiting for it to let up a bit. Now the sun is out and bright! go figure.
