I have a tabby cat that I have loved on for 13 years. When he was two, he had an accident. I don't know for sure what happened but we think he fell of the top of my stairs. When I got home he was on the ground under the stairs and was barely breathing. I took him to the emergency vet clinic and they had him on oxygen. The bills were racking up and the vets told me if I took him off it, he would die. I couldn't afford hm to be on oxegen any more so I told them to take him off it. They did and he survived! They said that it was a miracle. But things changed about him that made him different. Ever since the accident he will not stop meowing, literally he is meowing 24/7, I am not kidding one bit. The time he is quiet the most is when he is rubbing his head on plastic bags, I think it reminds him of the oxygen. He had another cat that was his friend that died which made him even worse(the cat that died was a siamese and he lived for 27 years!) But in some ways I like him better, he seems to love me more and he makes me laugh with some of the things he eats. He thinks he is a dog or something because he eats everything I drop on the ground! I dropped cheerios, he ate them. I dropped a frozen green bean, he ate it. lol he can be annoying sometimes but I still love him:) Have you ever been in a situation anywhere similar to this? Any stories or comments you have about this I would love to hear:)

I've read an artical that said that when cats suddenly start meowing a lot after an accident, they have lost some, or all of their vision. The only time that it didn't happen, was when the cat became deaf. Apparently, and to a lesser extent, cats can use a form of sonar like bats. They vocalize and then use their hearing the assist them getting around. This isn't the case in cats born blind or deaf, just after an accident. So, it is possible that he might've lost some vision in the accident. Also, from my experience, cats raised around Siamese are more willing to vocalize than a sibling not raised around a Siamese. Oliver is not in anyway Siamese, but his "uncle" Rygel, while he doesn't LOOK Siamese, has many Siamese traits; body shape, head shape, voice, and vocalizing. Oliver is much more vocal than a cat of his breeding should be. You can see the 2 of them in my avatar, Oliver is the little one. So, while I'm not a vet, and I've never met your cat, it might be that he's lost some vision in his accident and that is why he does the vocalizing. It is also why he may be so clingie and why he eats what is dropped, he could've also lost some sense of smell to tell him what is "food" and what isn't. Mind you, some cats eat weird things - cantalope is a favorite for many cats.

hmm, I never thought that he might have a vision problem, thanks for telling me about that. But, when it comes to smell I don't think that he has a problem telling what food is or isn't, I really don't know but he eats his cat food regularly, maybe he just eats what I drop becuse he is bored. lol I really don't know but thanks for responding:)

Poor baby. It just wasn't his time to go yet. Maybe hitting his heard made him little wacky when he fell down the stairs I hope he dosen't meow all the time because he is in pain though. My daughter shut my kitties leg in the screen door and fractured it when the kitty was about 4 months old the kitty had to be in cast for 3 weeks and her leg still seems like it is crooked to me now after the cast come off but she can use it just fine.

I don't think he is in pain, I went to the vet many times and they told me that he wasn't in pain but they don't know what it is. Lately he is starting to act kind of seenile because he was laying on one of the stairs in my house and I didnt see him and almost stepped on him. I am glad your cat is doing better:)
