Can they really do that???

I just wanted to know if snakes can bite you under water??? My husband and i were swimming in a lake and i was scared of snakes and he told me that snakes can't bite you under the water they will drowned.. So can't snakes bite you under the water or will they drown???

He's incorrect. They can definitely bite under water. In the US there are water moccasins. In Vietnam, we had some of the deadliest snakes in the world and they were all water snakes.

And you were bitten by a rattlesnake, Vlad, but water had nothig to do with that. LOL

No, there are quite a few snakes that live in the water and they definitely can open their mouths and bite you if provoked.

SO they can bite under water i will never go in to any waters now except pool water.

I am not scares of snakes, but I really can't imagine how they can not bite uder water. It seems as possible as aything. I don't recall anyone getting bitten, but we had some water snakes up at our cotage. I also remember a neighbour o mine shooting rattle snakes right out of the water. It was illegal, but he did it anyway, or whatever reason.

SO is that a yes on they can't bite under water.. I'm really scared of snakes of the snakes that are poisons..

This was something that I had to research, because I never thought about this happening. After reading many different articles, I discover that snakes can and will bite underwater, but only if they feel threaten. They won't drown. Snakes usually just want to be left alone. Snakes look at things that are bigger than them and become afraid. They will usually swim away but will only bite if they are messed with. This is why I don't like swimming in the ocean when I can't see the water.

I didn't know they could do that.. I have tryed tell my husband that they can't bite under the water but he is so hard headed and won't listen to me.. He never listens to me cause he is so hard headed...
