So I have two younger sisters. One is in Elementary school and the other is in High School. I finished High school about two years ago.
I feel like the school supply lists are just getting worse every year. They want so many of this and that and they want specific things. I feel like me and my mother end up spending more money each year. This is just school supplies, we still have to get school clothes for them.
One of the things that my sister has to bring in is 8 things of glue. I am not sure if it is glue sticks or glue bottles. Either way I think that is a little ridiculous. You can tell me that they need that much glue. That would mean that each kid is bringing in 8 things of glue.
Let's just say there was only 5 kids bringing glue that would be 40 things of glue. I know there aren't only 5 kids in the grade or the class that she is in.
I think that it is getting a little ridiculous.
One year I remember that we had to get a certain type of calculator for me and it was around 20 or 50 dollars I can't remember exactly. I ended up using the calculator only about two times because the class that they asked that for they had there own calculators that we used each day and then put them back.
What do you think about kids school supply lists?

I am so thankful that my children's school takes care of all of the school supplies. Before, they started going to this school the school they went to wanted my then fourth grader to have a graphing calculator. I called the school because I had just taken a statists class in college and paid $150.00 for my graphing calculator, I was like I am NOT sending my child to school with $150 calculator. The school's response was OH we didn't know that they were that expensive. WTF??? The school supply lists are crazy and I think that the best part of my childrens expensive ($179 a year) school fee is not having to go shopping for school supplies anymore!!

I hate school supply lists. HATE. Mostly because, like your calculator, they contain a bunch of stuff that the student is never going to use. I would prefer that, instead of having to go by a list, the teacher gives something that the students will be using for the first term, or maybe even the first half of the year, rather than buying more items than a person could even think about using. I had a math compass for two years that I never used, even though the teacher swore up and down that we would need it for the class. I would tell you to just wait it out and buy supplies as you need them, but I wouldn't want the teachers to hold it against your younger sisters.
