Do you drink milk?

You are supposed to drink 3 glasses of milk a day. Do you drink this much milk? I don't, but I'm going to start. I have learned something new about milk that might interest those who don't know it. You know how they say that if you drink a glass of water just before you eat, that you will feel more full and eat less? Well, if you feel hungry, but don't want to eat yet, drink a glass of milk. You will not feel full, but it will take away the hunger. I tried this tonight. I had the munchies, and gave in and had a cookie. I did not want to overdo it, but I still wanted to snack. Instead I had a glass of milk. Now I do not feel hungry and no longer feel the need to snack.

I've heard that it aides in weight loss, but other than what I said, I'm not sure how. Of course it is good for you, lots of calcium which is good for bones, and that's especially important for women as we get older.

I do not drink milk no, I hate the taste of it on its own and plus it is fattening as we have the full fat stuff. My daughter drinks loads of it, she is two but it is OK for her as she still picks at food and so the milk is good to make sure she is getting what she needs. It also stops her eating loads of junk which she would do all day if I let her.

Yes it is what she has, we call it semi skimmed. The others have the full fat but then I buy the lower fat too. But I just hate milk, I can have it in coffee and on cereal but that is about it.

Do they sell the lower fat milk there? I have just switched my toddler from the full fat (we call it whole milk) to skim (no fat). We all drink skim, it is low calorie and very good for you.

I love milk, both cold and warm, but I am scared of the fat content, as the one they sell here is 3.5%. They also have skim milk, but I think that tastes just like water, so I rather not drink it.

I have been drinking skim milk my whole life, and I have switched my husband to skim as well. My kids are also on skim. If you force yourself to drink the skim, you will get used to it after awhile. I think 2% tastes just like cream, it's gross.

All I drink is milk, literally. It gets expensive. I had gastric bypass surgery a couple of years ago and oddly enough the only thing I can tolerate now is milk. Most of the people I talked to said that they couldn't tolerate milk (or dairy in general) after their surgery, but I seem to be the total opposite. The things I am "supposed" to be able to tolerate make me sick and the things I'm not supposed to be able to eat sit just fine. Even water makes me sick. You just have to watch the calorie and fat content, though, with milk. When I had surgery they recommended I drink 1/2% or skim milk, if I was able to drink it at all, to mix with protein powder. I prefer 2%, I think the others taste watery, but the fat content can make the difference. The nutritionist said that there is no need for people to drink whole milk, and don't recommend it, once they are past the age of 2, which I thought was interesting.

I've always known that about the whole milk. We all drink skim, and I've just switched the toddler over to skim as he turned 2 a month ago.

Hi I really don't like milk much at all. When I was pregnant and told to drink alot of milk, I had a really hard time. My hubby at the time bought me some type of nutricious chocolate powder to put in my milk and it helped, but I still didn't like it. When I was growing up, I didn't really like milk then either and neither did my dad. He would have chocolate milk on his cereal. Well you know how it is, monkey see, monkey do..lol He would buy chocolate milk and I would use Nestle Quick and put it in my milk and then pour on my cereal. I thought the chocolate milk in the carton was too think for cereal. And to this day, if I eat cereal, I have to have Nestle Quick in my milk. Happy MyLotting, Char

Nope. I'm allergic to milk (not lactose intolerant) and can't drink cow's milk. I have the occasional glass of goat's milk or vanilla flavored soy/rice/almond milk, but that's not very often. I think milk tastes rather like Elmer's glue and water mixed up.

I have heard the product "Silk" which is soy milk, doesn't taste half bad. I haven't tried it yet though.

Hi there katsmeow1213! I love milk. I drink milk as often as I can. More often than not, I drink a glass of milk before sleeping. I prefer drinking hot milk as it is a little cold here in our city. There are times when I also drink cold milk but that is quite rare.

Yes it does. It has gotten expensive, but basically all you need is 3 servings of any dairy product each day. You can get this from cheese or yogurt as well as milk.

Think its baloney when you can get the same nutrients in so many other foods but the milk industry is this billion dollar industry and I think the factory farms are very inhumane. They have the cows on a large round almost like conveyor belt and they just milk em for every drop, not a great life if you ask me. Milk is highly mucus forming and if you plan on drinking 3 glasses a day then mucus is only accumulating, mucus itself can avoid your body from fully absorbing the nutrients you get from your foods (dont count on just meat and potatoes). Your right also, if your not getting out and getting your regular sun then your cup of milk is useless and just curdling away.

Yes I also drink milk not thrice but twice a day.Milk not only satisfies our hunger but it is a good source of calcium.Apart from this quality it helps to remove constipation if taken hot at night and if you have very strong constipation you can add isapgol husk to the hot milk(one and half spoon of isapgol is sufficient for a glass of milk)and consume it at night.Follow it for a week your constipation problem will gets solved and if still results can't be seen then follow it for a month. So everyone should develop a habit of drinking milk. Also milk is very important for females as they lacks the calcium as the age grows. you know, i don't think i can remember the last time i had a glass of milk. i used to drink it when i was growing up, of course. now it's water, coffee or pop. milk is so good~~wonder why i stopped ? i think i will try this when i get the hungries, and don't want to stop what i'm involved with. the protein in milk will take some time to digest...long enough to avoid extra calories. i have seen the new water with protein in it and it states it will just take the edge off.

I don't drink milk. But I always advice the kids to drink boiled milk at least a glass, once in a day. This fulfils the requirements of a growing child to some extent. Thanks.

Boiled milk! Hmm.. I think I heard that boiling milk is not that good as some vitamins and minerals that are found in milk is not that heat resistant. Thus, by boiling the milk, these nutrients are killed in the process.

Are you really surprised to know about boiled milk? It is a must, because boiling kills many accutely harmful bacteria from milk! Since milk is the store house of many nutrients, many bacteria are also present in it and hus raw milk is not totally advisable! Even the milk processor of my locality (OMFED) supplies 500ml packs of boiled and pasteurized milk! I hope you may have followed my point. Thanks.

Here in the US our milk is cleaned prior to it being on shelves, so we've never heard of boiling it.

You know what ever since I graduated from high school I didn't drink milk that much. Since in my university I have to buy lunch and get to buy whatever I want I didn't drink that much milk. Not even in my house. I would have it like once in a blue moon. But I also started again like you. Right now I'm not drinking that much but at least I am drinking it. I forgot how good milk tastes! I drink one cup in the morning with a donut or a coffee cake or something or sometimes by itself. Or sometimes with cereal. I drink the 2% milk which taste really good. That does sound good. So next time that I can't control myself I'll have a glass of milk. But i've been learning to control myself so that won't be too much of a problem.

I don't milk that much unless there is cereal in it. Sometimes when I see a glass of milk I imagine that milk is cow semen so that makes it a little harder for me to drink a glass of milk.

I usually drink a glass or two during the day, but rarely three. There are just the two of us now that the kids are all gone, but we'll still go through a couple of gallons a week.

I do drink milk - in tea, in cereal etc, but I don't like to drink it. I'm forever having to stop my family from guzzling it straight from the carton though, as they all do. Horrible habit which the kids have picked up from their Dad!

I think the attraction is in the illicit pleasure of sneaking a slurp without being caught by Mum! Or perhaps it is a very sensible time saving device which I'm foolishly not recognising. Those second saved by not finding a cup would all add up of course, and could be put to very good use elsewhere ...

Haha, like the cliche goes, like father, like son or is it like mother, like daughter? lol. Somehow, guzzling drinks straight from the carton has a different sort of taste than drinking it from a cup. It could all be in the mindset or is it because of oxidation during the pouring of the milk? Hmm.. some food for thoughts

I've heard this all of my life. And just like other statistics we don't really know for sure what the proper intake amount really is. I don't follow this, but recently I've tried to increase my milk intake. However, since milk makes me ill I don't drink it very often.
