I have moved a total of seven times and may be working on my eighth move this year. Not sure as of yet, waiting to hear what is going on with my husband's work. My first move happened when I was only 4 years old. My family and I moved from California to Alaska. At that time I didn't know many kids my age, and the ones that I did know I hadn't really created any sort of bond with to even really care that I was leaving them behind. I was more excited about seeing some place new. I was the little adventurer back in them days..lol At the age of 9 my Mother and Father separated, my Father stayed in Alaska, while my Mother moved with my brother and I to Nevada. I was quite upset to be leaving my Father, since I loved him very much, but I also loved my Mother and brother too and went with them. Of course I was also upset to be leaving behind some really close friends, but well when you're young there are just some things you don't quite fully understand and go with what your parents tell you to do. At the age of 11 my Mother met a man that lived in Arizona, she struck up a pretty good relationship with this person, and they decided we all should live together. I being a little rebellious at this point and not happy at all that my Mom was now with a new man, had my own little tantrum and was refusing to go, but after my grandmother talked some sense into me I finally moved again. Two years into the relationship my Mother and this guy were fighting so much and couldn't come an agreement on much except on the day it was decided it was best to go their separate ways. So we ended moving back to Nevada. It was at this point that I started to wonder how it was that I was gonna keep any prior friends, if we kept on moving as we had been. At the age of 14, for a very short stint I, alone moved to Utah with a friend and stayed with her family for nearly six months so I could get my head together and cool off the anger I was feeling towards my Mother. Probably would have stayed longer, but even though I was one mad little girl I was getting very homesick and wanted nothing more to be with my family again. So moved back to Nevada and rejoined them. At the age of 19, I moved here to my current location in Kentucky, to be with my fiance, who had moved out here to be closer to his family. By the time I decided to move, most of the friends I had made in Nevada had already moved away from the town we lived in and had gone off to start college or families of their own and my Mother and step-father at the time were thinking about moving to California. So it was not a hard decision for me to move and be with the person I loved and wanted to start a family with. With this next move that is in the works, it will be the final one. I don't know about my husband, but I'm really tired of hauling my junk around so much and having to get comfortable all over again with a new location. Yes one can say my days of being adventurous and wanting newness are basically over...lol

My parents hail from the province of Pangasinan, and they have spent almost all of their lives there. On certain occasions, they visit the city but this is very rare nowadays. They also have their jobs there; and I would have been just like them if they did not decide to send me to school here in the city. I started my schooling back in 1980 as a kindergarten student and until I finished my college education, I stayed with my aunt and her own family in a rented apartment. During summer vacations and long holiday seasons and schoolbreaks, I would return to my hometown to stay with my parents. Here in the city, I could say that we stayed in the old apartment for more than twenty years. A little more than a couple of years ago, my siblings and I decided to look for a new house because the one we used to stay in has deteriorated through the years and is already dilapidated. At present, we are renting a two-bedroom apartment which we still share with my four younger siblings. Because of scarcity in funds and increase of all of the commodities, we are finding it hard to acquire our own land and to save up for a house to be built on this land. I'm fully aware that having one's own property; a house and lot in particular, is not only beneficial but also more secure and less expensive in the long run. Hopefully, we'll be able to have our own land and house before our daughter reaches and starts schooling.

How was moving for you? Putting things in boxes and then taking them out again?
