How many times a day does you baby take a nap?

So my daughter will be 11 months on the 15th. When she was younger she would take like 10 minute naps and she was up. As tired as she would be that is all she would sleep if any during the day ,unless I was outside with her. So now as she got older I have to put her down at least 3 times a day, sometimes even 4. She plays for an hour and she is already tired. I feel like she should be playing for at least 3 hours or so. Maybe I am wrong. She wakes up at 7am and then by 9am she is down for her first nap then around 11or12 depending when she wakes up , it varies. Then around 2 and then again at 4 or so. Do you have a similar situation? I feel like all I am doing all day is putting her down for a nap. I know babies get tired because they are still small etc. I am glad she is now taking naps but sometimes i feel its too much. What are you experiences with your kids?? Thanks in advance for sharing.

My son is already 2 1/2 yrs old. He takes a nap only once in the afternoon for about 1-2 hours. I make sure that he sleeps in the afternoon so I can sleep as well. He goes to sleep at night around 9pm coz he still watches his favorite tv programs and gets up from bed 7am. I don't have any problem when it comes to his sleeping habit.

My daughter is almost three and she takes one nap in the afternoon. Some days she stays up all day and goes to bed early. I do not mind as long as she is not crabby. Then it is to bed for a nap.

Hold on, hold on. You said she would play for an hour and then be tired. And she's 11 months old? Take her to the doctor. If he says she's fine, then that baby is not SLEEPY she's BORED! She gets cranky because whatever she's playing with isn't interesting enough. It sounds like you have her all day. So in that case, in Brooklyn, this is what you do: you take her outside to play at about 8am. Go to the library, sit on the lawn, let her crawl around in the grass (put her on a blanket or let her crawl with some long overalls on so she doesn't hurt her knees). Then go walk down the block as far as she wants to go. Bring lunch with you, eat outside. By around 1pm she'll be ready for a REAL nap. Babies do get tired when they're small, but they'll sleep if they're bored, just like an adult will. Your daughter is BORED. If she can't last that long, then time her naps. Keep her up for at least three hours after she wakes up in the morning. If she's not ready to go down, give her one more hour, then help her to go to sleep. Then let her sleep for only 1 hour, even if you have to lay down with her. Read or take a nap yourself. About 2 hours after that she might be ready for another nap. After that no more naps til bedtime. Try that out, and then let us know how it goes.

My daughter is going to be 2 next month. Before she used to take a nap twice a day 10 am for 2 hours and then followed by 3 pm for 2 hours again but now it change maybe because she is growing already she only take a nap once for only 2 hours.I like her to take a nap because i read in the book that if your child take a long nap she have time to form her brain what it means is she'll be a lot smarter.

I dont have a baby but I have a nephew. My sister will change nap 3-5 times per day. Sometimes if no more nap to use she will leave her son naked.

I dont have a baby. But still remember my youngest brother ued to sleep all day long when he was infant. I too was just 5 years old then. So i used to be quite amused to see him sleeping all the time.

My daughter is 18 months old. She normally takes 1 nap a day, but sometimes she does not take one at all. When she was 11 months old she was taking 1 nap every day that was about 2-3 hours. Is she still taking really short naps or have the naps gotten longer? If she is still taking the short nap then I would suggest keeping her up a bit longer in the morning before letting her have that first nap. She may sleep a little longer then. Also, I have found that my daughter sleeps more soundly with some white noise in the background.

I've never had that problem. I never allowed my children to sleep so many times a day...even at that age. Only for the main fact then it becomes a habit and then if I have to be out or something I dont want it to be disrupted. My oldest daughter, by the time she was 7 months was down to 2 naps a day. She would get up at 9am then nap from 12-2pm then her second nap was from 4-5pm and then bed by 9pm and up at 9am. Then when she was 12 or 13 months she was down to one nap a day. She would get up at about 8am then nap from 1pm-2 or 3pm. Then bed again for the night at 9pm. I kept her up even when she was tired because I didnt want her to nap 5 different times a day. She is now 4 1/2 and doesnt nap at all. On the rare occasion she might take a nap in the car when we're out and about other then that she was done with naps ever day when she turned 4.

My one year old son is a little bothering now. He takes a short nap during and that will be all. The next sleep he will have is during the night time, all the way the next morning. That is bothering for me because in his younger age, in his first eight months, he had at least 2 naps. Maybe because he is not more active than before. He likes to play a lot, dance and sing also. My son will be 3 months old on the 6th so he takes lots of naps. He takes 2 little naps before 12 noon then a long nap from 1-3pm then about 2 more naps. I try to get him in bed by 10pm. He still wakes up during the night though but hopefully that will change when he start eatting cereal because I'll put some in his bedtime bottle. I'm thinking about starting to put alittle in his bottle when he is 3 months. He'll sleep from 10pm until about 2 or 3am. Then he'll wake up again around 4 or 5 then again around 7 or 8am. But everyday is different. Take care!
