Leftover frosting

When you bake a cake,what do you do with the leftover frosting? Do you save it for another cake, or do you just eat it? Also, do you buy it in the store, or do you make your own? We made my sister a birthday cake this morning, and we had some left over. It wasn't a lot, so me just ate it. Surprisingly, our two cats like it, too. Midnight was licking it off my fingers, and when Mom sat the bowl down, he started to lick it. Who knew?

My kids usually eat the leftover frosting. Thats if my grandson isn't here then he eats it. Thats the only thing eats when we have cake.

Hi Bd200789,
When were young my mum used to always bake cakes and it was my brother and I alway gets the bowl and my brother gets the most. Now I buy them once in a while.

Well if there is any left over then usually the kids have a lick, I have a lick and then it just gets washed away. I do not normally have that much left over, I am one of those that either just makes enough or not quite enough and I have to scrape the bowl down to the bones to get it all!

I loved to bake a cake, but there won't be any time left for other things.
So I never baked a cake before.
Frosting, sounds good. My son and my sister baked a cake before and my son will and would love to eat the left over frosting and he loves it.

I eat the frosting. I normally make my own frosting - I'm capable so I feel its almost a waste of my money to buy premade frosting. On occasion i have purchased it when I'm in a rush to get something made for taking to a bake sale or something it has to look really nice for...my frostings tend to be on the not for public sight but really yummy side.
