Imponderable question

Well, going by the wording of your discussion: If I were a blind person since birth how would YOU describe the "colour red"? So my response is: if you were blind, I might not have been blind at all. So I'd have SEEN the colour red as it is.

I think a blind person would describe a color that same was sighted people do, the only difference is for the blind person they would know the description by having had it told to them rather than actually seeing it. For example, "Red is the color of blood." Another way to look at this is to ask the question, how does ANYBODY describe a color? The only way we can is by giving examples of things that are that color. When you think about it, there's no "definition" of colors, as children we learn the colors by the kindergarten teaching point at different colors and saying their names. But you can never describe a color in words without giving an example of something that it is that color. So a blind person by a certain age would have been told that blood is red, the sky is blue, milk is white, etc., and describe colors the same way.

i would make you hold a hot cup of coffee with both hands (not hot enough to do any damage) at the same time, i would take my finger and press fairly hard between your eyes...and i would say "that is what red is"

hmmm, thats kinda hard because blind people can only see black.. arent they?
