Scrapbooking: Take a Load Off

When I'm scrapbooking, I forger about all of my problems, all I think about is what technique to use next or what color paper to use with which photo's etc. So, whenever I feel sad or angry or confused, I get out my scrapbook and take a load off. Maybe it's just me, or maybe fellow scrapbookers feel the same way? And what other hobbies is out there that help you take your mind of off things?

I do too. I absoulty loose myself when I am scrapbooking in a good way of course. When I am scrapbooking I tune the world out. I couldn't tell you what was going on around me. I normally have the TV on or music but could not tell you what was playing or showing. My husband got home one evening and said hi - 30 minutes later he came in the room as I was cleaning up and I said "just getting home how was your day' LOL he was like I'v been here for 30 40 mins I came in and said hi. OPPS!

It sometimes takes a lot for me to get my scrapbook stuff out to work on but once I do I love it and it is relaxing and comforting. Sometimes I get stressed cause it doesn't look right but I just move on and come back to it later because then I might see it differently.

i'm just a newbie in scrapbooking, especially in digital scrapbooking. I hope it's alright, since everybody here are into paper scrapbooking. Before, I do paper scrapbooking but, my pocket is crying-out-loud he he.. so an online friend introduced me into digital scrapbooking. and I agree, it is a relaxing hobby, specially when I do layouts for my kids.

I have been scrapbooking for a little over 3 years now, and I love it, it's relaxing and fun. I was put on medical leave for an injury at work back in April, and I would go nuts staying at home if it weren't for my scrapbooking. I also have orders for three individual scrapbooks for members of a girls softball team. I went to all their games, practices, etc and took pictures, and had orders for scrapbooks. Plus I have my own scrapbooks that I work on. So it has helped me fill my days even though I have very limited use of my left hand, it was an injury to my wrist. I'm hoping to get a cricut, my daughter has one and just loves it.

Scrapbooking helps me relax too. I will get really stressed out if I don't do something creative a few times a month. That usually entails scrapbooking, card making or beading. Those are really the creative hobbies that I get into. I also paint, I guess you would call that a hobby too. I also love to read. It's easy to get lost in a book. I when I scrapbook I feel that I am not just doing it for me, but for my whole family (so I don't feel so guilty about my me time). They love to look at their photos and they get a saner mommy too.

I feel the same as you, Katinka. Scrapbooking can be very relaxing as well as fun. I have gone from scrapbookinto the making embellishments, cardmaking and tags. Now I am tinkering with altered books. I really enjoy the freedom of papercrafts.
