Do you watch your star?

India

I am trying not to, but it is such a temptation. I just keep my mouse pointer over it and watch the percentage. Sometimes it rises and sometimes it falls. It is highly inconsistent. I don't know whether a high percentage means I am a good girl or whether a low percentage means I am a bad girl. Fortunately for me, the color is still red. A month back it became 95 percent, and I was jubilant. Just one more, I thought, and I will get my favorite color. Alas, that was not to be. A week later, it collapsed to 94 percent and now it is 92. Horror of horrors! It can make you slightly sick, can't it? The star, I mean. Don't you think we would be better off without stars. Personally, I suspect my activity in the religion section to be the cause for this. I think I will stick to cats; they are safer. So, what about you? Do you watch that star? Or do you forget it exists? Cheers and happy mylotting

Yeah, it hit 9 a long time ago and has not changed. I don't know if that is a good or a bad thing. I did have a 10 and I want it back.

I never even look at my star anymore. When I lost my 10, I totally lost interest. I just continue responding to interesting posts and go on. What difference does it make? You have no control over it. If it goes down, it does not necessarily mean that you have done something bad. I didn't. A jerk was on the loose awhile back and nailed a bunch of folks. Most of us are slowly making a comeback. I am slower than the rest because I have been sick and have not even been posting or responding. Just write and enjoy yourself. Life is too short to sit there and worry about your star!! I admit, I check my star from time to time throughout the day/night. But not really that often, just a few times a day. I had gone from 7 to 8 then 8 to 9 pretty fast when I got active, then I dropped back to 8 for a short time. Now I've been going back up. It's funny, I didn't even know about the 92,etc.. Then one day I put the cursor over the star and finally understood what people were talking about! So I'm not really sure what my highest/lowest ratings have been, but I'm guessing my current is probably the highest it's been. Oh yea, I'm giving you a plus, so hopefully that will have you towards that 10 star we all want to see at least once! Good luck. Oh, and I don't think you are "bad" if it drops, I think it's either trolls or people who just can't stand other people having different opinions. Maybe we would be better off without the stars, but it is kinda nice to see what our reputation is on the site, ever if it is sometimes influenced by people who try to cheat it.

Dear friend, I do often watch my stars more I do also mostly beleived in Astrology and Horoscopes and which tent to be much true in my life. Moreover I had also gone some of good Astrologers near to my homw who would tell my days to come and if any things or rituals or any others things to be done als will to told by them. Most of time many astrogical preditions has come true in my case. Hence I do give importance to this star tellings.

LOL, I meant the Mylot star near your user name. Not the astrological stars, though even those are very interesting. Cheers and thanks for your response.

I just don't care for my star rating anymore and I just can understand what you feel about this issue. I think the mylot rating system is not fair enough as people would rate you down just for having a different view from others and I also experienced that in the past. I doN't care for stars anymore but also I am not getting into the discussions in politics and religions anymore as it just effects my mental health after all. I just used to get into those discussions everyday and I used to find some stuff to discuss, however I can't say everyone in here really knows how to discuss or what discussion means because disagreeing with other people in those topics just caused my star rating to go down from 9 to 8 and it just kept going down since I stopped my activities in those sections. I used to care for my star rating in those days but now I just don't care about it anymore. However I just doN't get into political and religional discussions too because it just effects my mental health as I am seeing it is just so impossible to "show" something to someone else here. It looks people of mylot are just very happy to starting discussions which everyone of them agrees. Just check in those discussions and anyone who disagrees with them always get lower ratings. I just don't think the rating system stands for this but in the end, it is how the system is used and I just don't care about it anymore...

LOL, you are right! Mylotters only love people who agree with them. Say something new or something that goes against their pet beliefs and they hate it. Cheers and happy mylotting

I really don't know actually that the star is really a big deal... I though it is just a "star"... Now, I know so I will check my ratings.. It's been almost 2 months and I just only know that the star gives the rating of our discussion... Thanks anyway about the information...

Hi kissie, your star is red, your rating is nine over ten, and your percentage is 87... LOL... Just hover your mouse pointer over the star and you will see your percentage. :) Thanks for your response.

Welcome to Mylot! You don't have a star; consider yourself lucky! LOL... just kidding. When you hit 100 posts, you will get a cute little star with a number in it. If you place your mouse pointer over the star, you see your percentage, which denotes your Mylot reputation, i.e., how people view you on Mylot, how popular or infamous you are, and so on. Sometimes it is fun, sometimes it is a pain in the you know where. Cheers and happy mylotting

I admit that I do check it now and again. Mine recently dropped another point. I don't really know why. I think it might have been because I was out of town for a little less than a week and hadn't posted anything. So, I think if you don't work, your star drops over time. LOL! Or, I ticked someone off somewhere but, I can't figure out how! LOL! I really try not to care about my star. I had it up to 100 for a while and, haven't been able to get it back up for some time now. Oh well! I'll get over it! I do sort of think that myLot should do away with the stars. It can be used as a weapon by people who are just out to do harm to others here. So, if there wasn't that temptation, then it wouldn't happen.

Well, I am not so much concern with that although I am glad when my color changed to the upper level but, if it doesn't happen, I just don;t care about it. The most important thing is my posts had increased and my discussions were all responded.I would be just glad with that.

I do not much care if mine goes down or up! I think people give a minus when they do not like what you are saying. That is not right just because you have a different point of view. I thought the minus was for discusssions that has no quailty to it, Like those one liners that you have no idea what they are talking about.

I suspect that too. Certain people give a minus if they don't agree with what you have written or even when it is not the answer they expect. :) Cheers and thanks for the response.

hi,there. i didn't even realize there's a star rating thing in mylot coz i just joined a week ago. i simply log in and respond to topics that i'm interested in. i do notice many mylotters who have a star over their profiles and i'm so lazy as not to find out what they mean lol. Guess it's fun to watch your star grow in nunmbers and change to your favorite color. For me, i think it's a nice surprise if i'm rated high and it's acceptable if not. i enjoy mylotting with everything it has to offer.

LOL, I wish it was that easy to change the color of my star. I would have changed it to blue in a jiffy, but I have to wait for other users to rate me positive so that my star rating goes up and makes it blue. Welcome to Mylot anyway Cheers and thanks for the response

i am still waiting for my first star! i read that i will get it when i reach 100 posts..... that would be nicwe. i still have a lot to learn about thise pretty things, so i will have to do some research...about the colors, ratings, percentages. i don't know about any of those. but having a star would definitely feel nice, esp a blue one, or maybe a silver one(i dont know what is better by the way. i have already said i dont know what the colors mean) so excuse me while i go and try to earn my star in the next few hours...adios

I hate to admit it, but yes I watch my star. It has stayed at 98/100 for so many months now that I used to think people stopped rating my discussions and responses. That is until one day it dropped a point and the next day it went back up. But that was a few months ago and it hasn't changed since. Even though it hasn't changed I still like to check at least once a day so that I can keep track of it.

Well guessed friend, and also, i feel that we have to start or respond to many threads here.. because some months ago.. i have also got my reputation decreased by one point.. 95 to 94.. and i stayed there for long time,.. and now i only i could manage to go past..96 mark.. I will be against my conscience if i say that i am not concerned about my star ratings here. I hope very soon you will be in the blue moon category. Cheers and have fun.

hi positiveminded1977 I do watch my star and its rank is slowly moving up and in a few more moves Iwillhave a red nine instead of yucck yellow. your rating will move up and down and that is natural as more and less people hit you positive or negative. so good luck it will rise again.

25 Jul 08
Hi Hatley, I really wish Mylot would change the colors. I guess if the colors were attractive, we wouldn't mind getting even a lower star rating. :) cheers and happy mylotting

I will admit that I get excited when my star goes up. Like from a 5 to a 7, etc. Because to me that means that people appreciate my comments. Maybe I even said something that helped somebody. But, I don't put any other emphasis on it.

good day...Actually it is just today reading your discussion that I learn that by just pointing the mouse on the star you can the actual score /100 lol . Talk about ignorance. Yes sometimes I can't help but look at it and try to maintain it at blue color but I also admire members who doesn't care about it and have balls to discuss hot topics.
