I am a private citizen who happened to study political science and also experienced to read some books about politics in other countries. The president's State Of the Nation Address or SONA is organic system of democratic government geared not towards the ears of the masa but it is for the Legislative Branch of the government. In SONA, the President's administrative agenda, plans, programs projections etc., is lay down so that the Legislative Branch may pick up some of them to formulate or pass a law for its realization. Whether, the President SONA contains something which the people do not understand or some may say lies, never mind its up for the Congess if they are going to adopt them into passing of law. The SONA is just like you are murmuring in the air that you feel like having snack so that your boyfriend may hear it and take you to the nearest restaurant, and if your boyfriend is damn deaf then sorry you have to take snack at your own cost. Speaking about rice shortage and the high price of most of the commodities, this happened not only now, it was repeatedly happened in any Presidents of our country. Ask your parent about this, during the term of then President Marcos there was also rice shortage, and the worst one has to secure first a ticket from the barangay official so that you can buy rice, not only that, during that crisis milled corn is mandatory to be bought for every kilo of rice. The crisis and high price of most commodities are not fault of the President because she is not the merchant on this. Look who owns and controlled most of our vital business? They are the rich business men, some are foreign companies who only seek profits at the misery of the people. If business men want to help the lives of the people, them why are they not lowering their prices? worst is that, even some of them are not faithfully paying their taxes to the government but demanding too much from the government in terms of protection, privilege and etc. Now the desires of these business men for more and more profits which resulted to crisis is the fault of the President? Let us open our eyes so that we can see the truth for the truth will set us free! On the other hand, political oppositions has not doing anything but only to speak envious words and keep opposing the programs of the administration. They are shouting for corruption but look at them if they are spotless and blameless? They are telling us that many people are experiencing starvation but they are not doing anything to feed them. They are speaking in every corner of the country that many Filipino families are poor but they are not doing something to have these poor better lives. Many of us in this country knows only how to blame others but we just sit, shout in the street but never help to find the right solution to the predicament. Many of us are fault finders but never contributes for the improvement of our country. A patriot once said "ask not what your government can do for you but ask what you can do for your government". At the disguise of freedom and riding on the wave of hot issues some sectors take advantage to advance their personal interest and place the people at the circus of their political career to assure victory for the next political contest. These people are the real traitors of the very freedom our forebears paid crimson blood to achieve the altar of liberty.

Honestly, I am not interested on what the president would be saying in her state of the nation address this coming Monday. I think she will just be reporting about her accomplishments and the figures showing the improvement in the economy, but it's impacts is not felt by the people. More and more people are becoming poor because of the different problems we face now - high oil price that leads to high commodity price. And would she say her administration had generated a lot of jobs once again? Common, I think I would not believe anything about those figures anymore. They are just made for publicity. Just my humble opinion. Have a great day!

It is not just a philippine problem its a worldwide problem at the moment, oil prices are causing all countries to tighten their belts. But it is understood the Philippines is hurting more as its a country where there is so much corruption and iliterate voters who for a reason known only to them vote for movie stars and celebrities. How can GMA gain respect and world aid with the farcical, pathetic bunch of politicians that have been elected for years in the Philippines. GMA is a true economic genius and its a shame that millions of pinoys dont have the education to truly acknowledge this. But for them dont worry GMA will one day be a proven economic hero to her country.

It seems as if I don't even have to say anything now...Wow I was overwhelmed by the number of responses. Scary...well anyways I think it's a waste of time listening to the whole SONA. I will listen to the late night news for the keypoints of the SONA, and then judge the president. There's so much prejudice going on around right now, but what I want to impart is that a Filipino's problem starts with his own. If he can't fix himself, he has nothing to throw the government. I myself don't contribute to the progress of the Philippines directly, but still striving to do small things to help. What we need to do is help, not negatively criticize, but HELP. I hope you all bash me with comments. One word about SONA:BORING!

im not interested to hear her SONA because i know she will do the same thing again..of course she will say that our country's economy is growing high! How can she say that our economy is high when we are all experiencing rice shortage and oil price hike? Is she's blind to see what's happening in our country? I dont want to listen in all of her lies..she's lying in all of us..she's making us stupid..
