How long does your child nap for?

My daughter takes about 3 naps a day. She is a very light sleeper, which is not so great because anything can just wake her up and then she is cranky for the next few hours until its time for her next nap. If nothing interrupts her she can sleep for about 1 hour to 1.5. If not then it could be as little as 10 min. If that happens i got nuts because I have no time for my self. Even though the AC makes noise and such or a car passes by its ok. But if there is a squeak from the door or if I walk into the room she opens her eyes. Its simply amazing... does anyone else have this problem with their kids?? She has actually gotten better from when she was an infant but the problem is still there.

I think the sleeping habit of every child changes as they grow older. I have a 2 1/2 yr old son. When he's an infant, he took several naps a day. And now, he takes only one nap in a day. He sleeps around 130pm. Sometimes, it takes him 2-3hrs to sleep, but sometimes 1-2hrs only. It actually varies. Depending on the condition of the surroundings. And, if he's tired he would sleep longer hours. But if I just force him to sleep, it's like an hour of sleep only.

My son sounds a lot like marcroswell's son. My little one is 27 months and will take a nap like a champ but only if it's time. About 5 hours after my son wakes up he's ready for a nap. However if I have something to do around then he might miss his nap. If that happens, I have to do everything in my power to keep him up after 3pm. If he goes down after 3pm, we have a MAJOR problem getting him to sleep at night. However, if I keep him up, he'll crash about an hour before bedtime. It's a beautiful thing when I can sync things up like that. Then my husband and I enjoy our "alone" time together. I want to know, too, how old your daughter is? Depending on her age (over 12 months), you need to help her to keep active a little longer during the day. Then she'll most likely be ready to go down and it will be a sound sleep for at least an hour. After that, she'll play all afternoon and then be good and ready for bed that night. Oh yeah, going outside to play, which can just be letting her crawl around in the yard to explore the grass, dirt, and bugs is a great way to get her to go down for a good nap... or even just before bedtime. And baths are night tonics to young ones.

How old is your daughter? The older they get the less naps they will take.My little girl just turned 1 and she will usually only take 1 nap a day which last between 45 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes.I sometimes will be going crazy if I have a lot to do but it works out well for nighttimes. She went to bed last night at 7 o clock and I had to wake her up at 7:30 this morning so that I could drop her to the babysitters to go to work. That is really awesome. So I try and get everything done at noghts while she is sleeping good.
