He left on Tuesday for Guatemala and was expected to be away for four weeks. Apparently the computer equipment isn't arriving there until the 29th and then it takes about a week to be cleared through customs (lots of red tape so he was told). It wasn't his fault the equipment is not there because it's handled by another department so his boss decided they both come back instead of wasting two weeks there doing absolutely nothing. I told him there could have been lots of sightseeing to be done during those two weeks LOL. So to turn this into a discussion, Have you travelled somewhere for work, only to find out a few days later you're coming home because of some equipment issues or problems that arose? Were you dissapointed? Were you happy to be going home? I know I'm happy he's coming home, we both are ..Thanks for sharing!

great news to hear! well this has never happened to me, fortunately or unfortunately. I guess it depends what work trip it was and where it was and who i was with. if i were in a nice place with no boss and was told to come back I"d be disappointed. if it were a place that I"d been to many times and i was with a boss i did not like, then i'd only be too happy to come home!

Hi squaretile, haven't seen you in a while. Hope all is well with you. He is due to leave again 5th August but he is trying to postpone it until they know for sure the equipment is going to be there before he leaves. Now there is talk of budget issues which is fine with him, as he would rather stay than go hehe.

its really nice atleast he can come home now. most probably he will be making the journey again in future? it would have been nice sight seeing but it would be the cost of company going there.

hi Subha, he is due to leave on 5th August so it's only a few weeks away. I just hope all the equipement is there so they won't make the same mistake again as your right about it costing the company lots to travel.

I have traveled in the past for work and how I wish the equipment wouldn't have showed up! But it always did, LOL. Two times were for big automotive shows and the other was a sales conference. And everything did show up. In fact one time, we were still putting together sales price books as everyone was still flying in.
