I'm 26...and I am finding it very hard to find a job in my area, which means I'm pretty much stuck here with Mommy and Daddy, until I find something. But I was wondering if anyone else was finding it hard to get a real job...I mean I know we're in a recession right now pretty much, but is anyone out there finding good jobs?

I live in Houston and we have what seems to be like this large bubble around us that separates us from the rest of America.
Because we are such a large source of, well, everything for Americans, we have NO loss of jobs.
We're home to oil, energy, NASA, and more.
I drive around Houston all day and see "help wanted," "now hiring," and other signs EVERYWHERE!
Restaurants, telecommunications, hotels/motels, nursing positions, administration, etc.

I live in a rural area. It's harder than anything to get a job sometimes because you have to drive so long for a good job. If you don't have a car then you're SOL. You just can't get anywhere without a care and during the summers there's just no openings for jobs here at home. so don't feel bad. You're not the only one who can't find a job.

Hi, Callie!
Of course it's harder than it's been in decades to find jobs. No matter what politicians choose to call the slump we're in, it's negatively affecting all of us. Huge numbers of people are being laid off. Companies are closing or downsizing left and right! Kids come out of college with excellent degrees and still can't find jobs.
As important as it is to everyone to have a really good job, until the economy improves, lesser jobs are all many can get. It's still making a good, honest dollar and resumes show you have drive and ambition. Take something to tide you over until your able to find what you really want to do.
How sad it is that so many are unable to get a good start in life. Many are like me -- almost ready to retire and income has dropped substantially this year.
Good luck. Never give up!

Granted jobs are hard to find. what field are you in? Maybe you should focus on a different field. I was laid off from my job one month ago. I really haven't actively started looking for work. But I know it will be a job in itself when I do.
Wish you luck in your job searcb.

I'm in the same situation. I live in a tourist town so there's work but it's mostly seasonal. You have to fight the Russians for jobs here too. I don't know why but they are all over my town. They are very willing to work. I'm about to get married though and my fiancee wants to take care of me so I don't have to work. I guess that works out for the both of us.

It's definitely harder to find jobs. I live close to the DC area and I'm having trouble too! It took me about three months to finally get accepted for something. It's hard work to find work, heh.
It's tough, but you need to keep being persistent until you find a job. Don't worry about getting something perfect or precisely in your field right now; look for something that will pay the bills that you won't completely hate (and are at least partially qualified to do). Try to apply to at least three jobs a day, and look on different websites- craigslist, monster, any local job websites you have.
I wish you the best of luck.
