cell phone tears me and my son apart

hi friends my son wants a cell phone for his birthday i said sure why not but he had to get all b's and a's in school. he did it so i go to the altell and there phones are so expensive i mean i seen a 200$ sign for a razor i mean cmon do i break my promise to him and not get it for him because the cheap ones r ugly. i need some help does anyone have any help or advice?

well i have cingular and usually phones like razors come free when you get a two year discount. or atleast theyre majorly discounted.if u cant do that then i would suggest maybe a pre paid phone...

I would tell him this is what you can afford right now for aphone. Tell him you are very proud of his b's and a's and you kept your promise to get him a cellphone but this is all you can afford at this time. Tell him if he keeps his grades up you will try to do your best to afford a razr phone for him by Christmas time. if that's what he wants.

Go to a different company, we are at verizon and get our phones for free or next to nothing. He does not need a razr and phones are not a fashion statement. I don't look at my phone. It is for function not fun.
