To Host Or Not to host

I've been considering for months whether to put my crafts on a website and make a somewhat hobby/business out of it. I really love doing craft shows and making stuff, but the craft shows only come around a few times a year, and I'd like the ability to sell more often then that and to show off my stuff... get my name out there type of thing. Well, my boyfriend is being totally NO help with my hosting issue. He says do what I want. And since hes not taking me serious (or maybe he is??) i just dont know what to do. It's only 10 bucks for the WHOLE year, so why not? One sale would bring me back 10 bucks. I know I could promote the pants off of the site. I have business cards that I could put my URL on, and give out at the fairs that I go to and they would have something to come back to later and possibly buy from me again, or share with their friends (and so on..) I know I could make it look nice and I know I would have tons of crafts to put up there. I keep thinking maybe i should just go get a totally free site to try and see if i really make a sale and just promote that. I don't know! How do u get the guts to go for it and start something that you are not sure will fail. I really want it to work and I'm afraid that I'll waste all this time (not really caring about the 10 bucks) moreso the time and that it wont work or noone will buy off of me over the course of the whole year. Boyfriend asked why didn't I just use ebay like everything else that I sell, and I told him that the fees are ridiculous and I'm sure my crafts would be overlooked. I have alot of crafts, and it would take alot of money to list it all, probably over ten bucks! Those ads would run for a week, where my website would be forever really and have more of a chance of selling. So how do you take the plunge? Boyfriend tells me to do what I want (which is fine), but I want someone to tell me that it will work, go for it. Why couldn't he just say that?

Well, I can't tell you that it will work but I can tell you that I think you should try it. My friend and I make incense burners and we just made a free website that we are still working on as we go. I have it in my profile here. we just figured we'd try it. Why not give it a try...what have you got to lose? I have heard of people who put a webpage out there and are very successful and some are not. It can't hurt to try....i say you should do it.

Thank you for your encouragement. I think I will do it, but I think I'm going to start out with a free site and see how it goes. I could always transfer to a paid account later if it works out. I'm going to check out your page too and see how you have it laid out and stuff. I emailed my bestfriend about it last night (even though I have talked to her about it for days now...) and she again has said go for it. She also suggested searching for other pages like what I'm trying to do and see how they look and see if they are doing well. So, I think this week I'm going to be busy setting it up and trying to get pictures and inventory ready. Thank you again :)
