How to add smilies in posts?

Hi friends, I always wonder how you add smilies to your posts. This looks really cool and attractive. I have tried all like:) or [:)] , but nothing comes out as smilies in posts. Can you please tell the secret and gimme a few example of it?
You may wonder how to show this on posts. am helping you out.
Let, [:)] makes a smiley, then show this like:
'[+:+)+]' this way... got it?

i see that someone had helped you out already so no need for me to say the same. but there are more you can do besides those smileys. you can do this too and you can do this too and you can do this too all of this can be seen at the mylot code together with the smileys. hope you have fun.
