I planted 6 pickling cucumbers this year. I have one so far and I love it. They look just like a big dill pickle. Here's a photo of it. Now I have to wait till I get a bunch more to pickle them for me and my family. Do you know if I can keep this cuke in the fridge or something until others are ready? Would it still be good to pickle after sitting for a week or so? I have no idea as this is my first venture in pickles grown. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I dont much about cucumbers. I tried to grow some last year, and I got one malformed cuke. I think they need a special fertilzer or soemthing. I'm sure somebody on this site will have an idea about cukes. I think somebody will be able to help you out with this pardon the pun "pickle."

I don't know about that but I just bought a jar of bread and butter pickles for $6.50. I stopped at a fruit and vegetable stand and bought a jar. They are suppose to be made by the Amish. For that price they better be goood!

I do not see why it would not last. Veggies last a while in the refridge. I have two cucumber plants and they have loads of flowers no fruit yet the same as with my egg plant. My green beans are going while and so are my bell peppers. Alas no cucumbers or egg plants.

That sounds like a great idea. Do you know how to pickle things? If so, can you give me a brief rundown? Food isn't going to get less expensive and I'd like to try different ways of storage.

Hi Grandpa Bob, I have seen some folks gather them and leave them in wooden baskets. Others put them in the fruit cellar. I i think a cool dry place would be Ideal! I love how you keep trying new things! Your always a busy. I think that it is great that you are grown your own foods.
