Red Sea - Is it Really Red?

Just thought this morning. Is the Red Sea really red? Please provide your thoughts about this. Thanks.

A place I would like to visit to see with my own eyes. Not just in pictures or on tv. I have heard stories about it but have not see it with my own eyes. To me it's one of the those great wonders of the world. Like the Nile river, the Red Sea is a name that everyone knows. If they don't know you can look it up on the net and you can find out everything you would like to know about it.

Right, I think many people wanting to go there, including me. I want to prove it in actual to see the difference of this against other salt water I knew already.

I would just like to visit and see for myself what it looks and feels like to be next to the Red Sea take a few pictures and be able to say that I have visited the place. There are alot of places that I would like to visit, but I may never do. Have a good one.

No, and it if was truly red it would freak me out. It would look like blood.

Ok. Based on the research I have done, this is due to the flowers under the sea which reflect to the sea, this is called algae.
