What's the longest......

Amount of time you have ever been on the phone with someone? I would have to say it would be about five hours for me.... I always try to be there for friends and family when they need me and I have also been over at a friends house for many hours as well or a whole day/night if necessary! At what lengths have you gone to or would you go to for a friend/family member. Are you there for them no matter what or do you prefer not to get involved? How involved do you get? ~Heavens~

My longest conversations are with Mummymo . I still don't know what we find to talk about for an hour, and then we visit and away we go again lol , I think it's because we are so much alike :) :) xx

Well, I worked on Thursday from 3:30 - 10pm Not sure what time you tried to call.... Also, The phone company came to fix our line so that may have impeded you getting through.... I was home in the morning but the afternoon I was out as I had a couple errands to run before I started work! I actually wasn't on the phone at all on Thursday but maybe my Hubby was in the afternoon but the Morning you should have been able to get through unless our phone was acting up prior to the man coming to fix the line.... Sorry you couldn't get through! I know you are here for everyone Gabs...that is never a question in my mind! Love and Hugs ~Heavens~

Once my hsuband and I spoke on the phone for abou four hours straight. We are currently long distance. He's in AZ and I'm in Onario. We are hoping to e ogether in Canada really soon. We both have really good phone plas, otherwise, we'd have to go bankrupt in order to pay our dang phone bills. LOL

Yes I can imagine...I would find that hard also! We also have a good long distance plan as my parents and my Hubby's brothers are all long distance so it was important to us to do that! ~Heavens~

I think the longest Ive ever been on the phone was eight hours! I was a teenager though :( Now if I even try to spend more than a couple minutes on the phone, Gavin lets me know he's not happy! But then i just save my phone calls for when he's asleep so I can have peace ;)

I could say it was with my friend Claire. Back when cell phones are new, she used to call me for two hours straight. One time she called me for an hour and when the line was cut, she called me again and we talked for two more hours. Using SMS (text messaging system) is all the rage here in the Philippines, and I remember Claire and I exchanged text messages from 7PM until 5AM and after a few hours of sleep, we resumed the exchange of messages from lunch time onwards. It happened summer of year 2000 -- I guess two people with nothing to do on a summer day makes them spend more time with the cell phones. Years passed, Internet connections becomes widely available to practically anyone who can pay the monthly fee, and although we don't talk and / or send messages in our cell phones that much anymore, we still chat on YM at times. Of course, we are much busier now that we've become older and had responsibilities on our own.

Thanks for sharing! It is so important to have such good friendships as that! I had friendship like that when I was in High School and would spend hours on the phone as there were no cell phones or home computers then.... ~Heavens~

I would say about an hour, and it was waiting for that "an operator will be with you shortly.' My husband can talk forever, but I cannot, With my relatives or friends it is about half an hour. I am more into writing and not that much into talking. I would rather talk to them in person than over the phone. I know how costly these long distance calls are for people and some who have cell phones, so I would rather that we could write a letter or we could go over and talk to them. but if they live too far away, it might be a problem.

Well, I have a great long distance plan! i pay 0.25 per call in Canada (No matter how long I talk) and 0.50 per call to the US. I have to have a plan like this as my Mom is very close to me but not in distance LOL I can't go without talking to her and my husbands brothers are both long distance as well as my cousin who is like a sister to me! ~Heavens~

Hi Heavens, What an interesting topic. I believe my longest time to be around five hours, as well. I've spent many hours on the phone over the years, and still do my marathon calls to this day. My sister and I can spend hours chatting, as well as my daughter in law, and a couple of friends. I'm always there for my family and friends too, unless there's a very good reason that I can't be. However, as soon as I'm available, I'm there. I've gone to some great lengths over the years, and one friend in particular comes to mind, as she was the victim of domestic violence. I was also there for her when she broke her leg, and she was laid up for weeks. It has gotten a bit harder for me of late though, due to health issues, but I still do all I'm able to do. Everybody needs family and friends to be there for them.

i tried talking to a friend for four (4) hours over the phone. i was yet in college when that happened. she's my classmate and we are really very close. what's so funny as i recall it is that i fell asleep at times during our some chitchats. we just got nothing to do because it was a Friday night and we got no class the following day, so that was it, we talk and talk over the phone, about our lives, our plans after college and about our classmates. we just never run out of things to talk about that night, or early morning rather..

I dont mind chatting on the phone and if its someone in trouble then of course I will take trouble to stay and chat with them, but as a normal conversation, then im not a great lover of the telephone one little bit!!it would be no good me having a mobile attached to my ear all of the time it would drive me insane!!but I know that there are many people who would find a life without a mobile/cell phone unthinkable, but its just the way that I feel.

Well...when I was a teenager a long, long time ago, I remember talking to my boyfriend for about four hours straight. His mother didn't like me, so he would call after she went to bed (but before mine did, so he wasn't making them angry). My folks would go to bed, thinking I was already asleep and my boyfriend and I would talk for hours. Now I can't stand talking very long on the phone.

I have a friend out of state who I basically stopped tracking the time with, since it's free on my cellphone. I know that my phone will automatically disconnect at 181 minutes for some reason, and that happens to us, then I just call him right back and we go on talking. There have been a couple of times when we'd hit 181 minutes twice in one night.

The longest i've been on the phone is over night. We ended up falling asleep on the phone with each other but i don't know how many hours that was but i think the longest other then that was 5-8 hours... I try and be there for my friends and family the best i can and depends on who it is as to how far i'll go for them. I prefer not to get involved but I don't like turning my back on my friends or family when they need me.. So i will suck it up and deal for them to be there if they need me.

The longest time that I am ever on the phone for is when my Mum phones. When we are on the phone it always, always ends up being a 2 hour conversation and I have to come off in the end simply because I am bursting for the loo.

i can stay 6 hours over a phonecall for a friend, family or any love ones. and im always ready for a friend even if they call me at the middle of the night. i run to their house if they need me. as long as they ask for my help, i'll be there! if comfort and company is all i can give to help them, why not!

The longest that I have spoke on the phone is about two hours, nothing serious though it was just generally daily girly chat. I would probably go see a friend if she / he was upset depends on if I could get there as I do not drive w/e. It also depends on the friend, whether they are more of a person I talk to or a best friend.
