yesterday we had a demo on Intravenous insertion in the hospital..it was my partners first time to do such things and i was quite nervous that she will not get it right..but then when we are already there thank God she did it right but she had it stayed in my veins quite longer so the needle had many bloods and i was joking her that she might as well bring it to the laboratory to have my blood counted..hehehe it is really painful..have you guys felt the same way i did when you had been confined in the hospital and was inserted by an intravenous line?1 person likes this

Yeah I've had it done. I've also had to go the pain of the surses not getting it right the first time. That was painful especially whnd it was at the back of the hand. Does make you feel like a sort of Guinea pig when some of the freshers are trying it on you.

maybe you have a complicated vein that is why the nurses had a difficult time inserting it then to you..

I did experience it when i went for my blood donation and luckily for me, the trainee nurse was quite stable and nothing serious happened to me.. lol
But my fren did really suffered alot because his trainee nurse insert the tube into the wrong vain and had to take it out, and it was really painful.. lol =D After which, he carried on with the donation and after 2 days, the whole part of the forearm where the tube is inserted, become swollen and there's a huge bruise patch.. lol =D But luckily for me, it's not really painful and the bruise disappeared after a few days.. hehe

So far so good kaezy_kulet, I never been experience being inserted through intravenous. I know it does hurt, I just experience removing an intravenous line with my patients. I never been confine to hospital, never!
because I hate needles, hehehe....
It's easy to introduced injections but when I am the patient, that probably hurts. But I'd like to have an IV therapy certificate too...Happy myLot!

That gives me the heebie jeebies! I would HATE to have someone practice inserting an IV on me, and I think that'd be enough to keep me from going to EMT, nursing, doctor training, whatever.
I'm glad you didn't have to go through too much suffering and that she got it right quickly!
