My daughter's grandmother recently passed away and we were very close to her. We found out after her death that she had become an eye tissue donor. Anyway, my daughter doesn't like the idea but she is accepting it. How do you feel about it? Are you or will you be an organ donor?

wow it is a very great thing first of all and it is very good thing that any one can again see the world if you donate the eye from your eyes rite.

I believe that it is a personal choice and that some people can do that and it is great but others like me just aren't comfortable doing that.

Your daughter should be proud that her grandmother wanted to help others. I am an organ donor and so is my husband. I won't be needing any of the organs that can mean so much to others when I am gone so why let them go to waste?

Well, I am sure that at some point she will realize that it was just Grandma's way of doing things. She was a very giving person and she always put her family first and so I wasn't surprised really that she would be an organ donor but it did bother my daughter. I hope that some day she will see the good of it.

I haven't considered it but it's worth thinking about.

I know two people who are alive today only because of organ donors. Both received hearts as young men. They've gone on to leave healthy lives, go to college, get married, have a family...Without wonderful people like your daughter's grandmother..that would not have been possible. I know some that are against organ donors and transplants. They want no part of it. Perhap one day, they or someone close to them will need the services. I'm sure that many of those will change their minds then.

I am currently not an organ donor but my license is up for renewal in August and I am going to become a donor then. Now that I have a daughter I look at things a lot differently and certain things have more importance now. I think that it is truly amazing that they can take someone else's eyes and other organs and transplant them into someone. If I can save someone's life after I am gone, I'm all for that.
But to each his own. If people choose not be organ donors, I think that is fine too.

I agree that it is a very personal choice and although I don't think that it is one that I would make, I think that it is totally okay for others.
