In most town centres throughout the UK you could find lots of little grocery stores, they were dotted her and there and every where. There was VIVO and SPAR and LIPTONS...do you remember any of these stores?and the service that you got in them?

Hey we used to ave a lot of smaller shops but over time they have all been and closed down in favour of the giant superstores, the one that I remember well was the Home and Colonial,a great store, friendly and good to go in,the stock was good, and lol they had an old fashioned cash register that was just a dream.

The little old fashioned stores were just really great, and the service in them was amazing lol the people used to stand and chat to you like you were old friends!!we had a store in the little town where we used to live it was called Wilson and Kennards, and it waa as old fashioned as they came, the bacon could be sliced to the thickness that ou required, the whole place wreaked of cofee beans and spices and the atmosphere was out of this world.Ive not really come across a place like it agasin for years!!of course it shut down some years ago now.

Hi ruby, In our area, we don't have lots of little grocery! I wish we had since it is nice to be just walking around and check different stuff from different little stores!

There is a lot to be said for thre little shops Che and they have closed down by the thousand now,the giant supermarket chains ahve knocked them off of their pedestals, but the intimacy of the small store cannot be repeated within a supermarket, there is a definate plus point there, price wise, and for access and managing to get everting in onre place, but lol the cashiers dont have the time to pass the time of day with you, they are always on a mission, and obviously they would be in big trouble should they be caught yapping away to the customers all of the time, but in the days gone by,the smaller shops knew there customers, and welcomed them,if they didnt come in to the shop, they may have wondered where they were...there was much more of a bond there.
