I'm so tentative about the coming election...

....and I think I have a good reason for it. The last one was four years ago, and I really never paid attention. But this year has been hitting one or two large, bold points further and further along, and it scares me a lot. Our nominees, each and every year, get caught up in the same mess. And it's not good for us citizens. I won't say they don't care about us. Some might, some might not. Which ones do or don't isn't for me to say. But What they (And mass media) DO is worse than ANYTHING they don't do. They paste up slander ads that provide a very extreme, sensationalized take on the opponent, which can also stab their credibility in the back. I know politics is a dirty business, but They can't possibly think any good comes from slamming the other guy into the dirt. They take so much time telling us who not to vote for that telling who we should vote for becomes a bit of an afterthought. Same with the mass media lampooning on candidates. How do the candidates deal? Compensate. After having their platform thrown under the microscope, most candidates feel they must step up their game to win. SO, they start finding out what we want. And make promises they won't or can't keep!! Then the other party dishes out a new one and the first guys bite back then the second guys step it up and it just goes in circles. And we get misinformed and ran around. If they just stopped trying to tell us who not to vote for, and stopped the asinine game of one-uppie they play, they could figure out how to fix our problems. It seems like they're the drama addicts who love to make things hard for themselves when they campaign like this. I don't blame the parties or the voters. I blame craptastic campaigns. Any thoughts or comments? How do you feel about the election? Through venting, ~~Becky Ann.

Hi Beck, I am not tentative about the upcoming election. I don't plan to vote for either of them. I don't especially like the fact that Mccain is in bad health and his vice-president (which i didn't vote for) may end up in office and as far as Obama goes i disagree with almost EVERYTHING that comes out of his mouth. I should be able to volunteer if i want to not because obama says i have to and it is going to be damed hard for people working two jobs to provide for their families (which i did for YEARS) to find time to provide something for others. I want my children (this means my nieces and nephews also) to go into the military if they choose not because obama chose, he is more concerned about the foreign countries than he is about the this country (i almost said his country but i don't think he considers the U.S. his country). I have looked at the voting records of both of these candidates and although i might disagree with Mccain on some of his votes at least he stood behind his votes, obama is so wishy-washy (he voted one way and insists that he believes another way) that i don't trust anything he says. As far as mud-slinging they all mud-sling but when they pull the man's families into it they are going to far. As long as the families are not making political speeches they should be left alone (this includes how ,when and the speed that they spend their money), when they start making public political speeches (esp. about how ashamed of this country they have been their entire adult lives) they are putting their own selves open for scrutiny and shouldn't whine about what is said about what they say. Obama was raised and indoctrinated in a Muslim country and wants this one patterned as one, however i am not a Muslim and have no desire to be one, in the same way i have no desire to be Italian or Greek or anything except American. As for the media they are as liberal as they can get and truly believe the stupid stuff they say and print, so i overlook most of it. i don't need or am I going to let what they mistakenly (i say mistakenly because i hate to think that they are telling such lies on purpose) believe, influence the way i think. After all i can actually look up and read the way these candidates have voted in the past. They can try to explain it away all they want to but if they didn't understand what they were actually voting for or against then i don't want them to head up my country. I was seriously considering not voting then i saw a show with Bob Barr (yes, he is on the ballot) on it and the man made sense so i looked his record up and i think i am voting for him. He used to be a Republican, but then so did I so i can't hold that against the man. If i had not seen him i am sure i would have went to the voting booth but i am not absolutely sure i could have forced myself to have actually voted. So Bob Barr is going to save me from a wasted trip to the polls. This is my way of thinking and as i am sure it is going to tick some people off-no i don't want anyones opinion on how wrong i am-and i apologize if your blood pressure goes up because you read this but She asked! Becky, if you feel you need to rant and rave at me you know my number.---Love Aunt Cathy. Now, aren't you mortified that everyone knows you are related to such an opinionated women ?

-Gives you a big cookie- I like my circle opinionated. It's more fun that way. I think that it's great you found a candidate worth the vote. Obama's wife really made me mad when she said that about America.

Though I am not much into the goings on in the political world, I have heard discussions at work about the upcoming election this year. From what I have heard, the outcome for the people doesn't look good no matter who may get elected.
