Bad choice of pizza toppings!

What are the worst pizza toppings you've ever eaten? Are there certain combinations of pizza toppings that always taste bad? One time I got a large pizza and made the mistake of choosing chicken, onions and pork toppings. Tasted terrible! The pork topping tasted like cheap breakfast sausage and overwhelmed everything else. That's all I could taste! Another time, I made the mistake of getting olives as a topping. They tasted sour and made the entire pizza taste rancid. In your opinion, what are the worst tasting pizza topping combinations?

I got bad pineapple on pizza once. Haven't ordered it since. Some things just leave an impression. So no more Hawaiian pizza for me.

Pineapple and pepperoni toppings go rancid really fast!

Worst pizza I ever had was a donner pizza. For those that don't know, donner meat is a spiced minced meat (usually lamb) usually served in pitta bread with sauces and salad.

Whew - for a moment there, I thought you were referring to the ill-fated Donner party who was trapped in the Nevada mountains while trying to handcart it to California who resorted to cannibalism to stay alive. I'd never heard of a meat with the same name. But, I don't think I'd like that kind of meat on my pizza, either.

Hmmm I think seeking pork as a pizza topping is not a good idea, specially with chicken. Personally I am little careful about what I choose for my pizza toppings. According my opinion, pineapple, onion and mushroom will be worst combination. My favorite toppings are onion, bell pepper, chicken, ham, and lots of cheese.

I can't think of a bad topping combination off hand, but I remember once I got a pizza from Dominoes probably 10 years ago with sausage and mushroom and it tasted nasty. We called and complained about how the mushrooms tasted. They had switched from fresh mushrooms to canned mushrooms. I hate canned mushrooms. I have never ordered mushrooms on a Dominoes pizza ever again.

I think I have liked all the pizza toppings I've gotten although I know I would not like it if I ever had anchovies on a pizza. Why anyone would want to have fish on a pizza is beyond me. Sometimes I dont care for mushrooms on pizza. I wouldnt ever order it specifically that way, Somwtimes it comes with supreme or veggies though and your kind of stuck.

I know what I like and what I don't like. I like pepperoni, bacon and just plain cheese pizza. I certainly think olives and anchovies don't work well with me. There seem to be a lot of different types of toppings for pizza these days. It seems they keep coming up with a new twist. I do like onions, but on pizza for some reason I am not crazy over.

I can not say that I have ever had a bad pizza. I have tried a lot of different combinations. The only thing I really do not like is anchovies. I am also not to fond of the Hawaiian pizzas but I will eat them. And I love olives on my pizza.

definitely anchovies. Even if you pick them off, they leave a nasty flavor. I don't like pineapple on pizza but it does leave a nice flavor when you pick them off. Everything else I don't like I can pick off.

I don't know that I've eaten anything on a pizza that turned out to be a mistake, other than how they prepared it was way different that I was used to and I didn't like that. I like ham and pineapple, onion and green pepper, grilled eggplant, chicken with ranch dressing and broccoli on pizza with mozzarella (I was amazed that I liked it, believe me). I like sausage if it's loose meat and not sliced links. What I don't like is HUGE chunks of green pepper and onion on the pizza, nor do I want the pizza so full of onions you can't taste the pizza part of it. I do like sliced black olives with the green peppers or with the ham and pineapple. I can't stand mushrooms, canned or fresh, cooked or raw; don't want hamburger on my pizza; will eat pepperoni if cooked crisp, but would rather have it chopped in tiny bits. An old boyfriend of mine once advised me to avoid anchovies in the restaurant where he used to work because the can they would take them from was well over a year old when HE worked there and he didn't trust anything that had been sitting open that long. Not that I'd ever want fish on my pizza, but it's a safe bet I'll never consider it in the future!

They were actually still in business the last time I was out there - and that's more than 25 years later!!! A very popular pizza joint with the college crowd out there.

Actually, we ate there a few times and the pizza was quite good, but that's been eons ago (I mean, my son is now 27!) Thank you most humbly for the B.R.

Hmmm. I don't know. I don't think I've ever had a pizza I didn't like at least a little bit. I even like anchovies. Back when my son was still eating meat, we used to get the Hawaii pizza quite a bit - with ham and pineapples. Now that he's a vegetarian, we get spinach alfredo pizzas. Yummy. Okay, now I want a pizza.

I think in your case it's more of the quality of the toppings such as the freshness that destroyed your pizza. Almost all the pizza toppings go well together whether they're fruit, meat, or veggies. But I really don't like raw onions on my pizza. Not only does it give me onion breath, it also overpowers all the other tastes. My favorites are sausages and other meat toppings. Yummy! I like olives as well since it balances out the other flavors. And who can have pizza without cheese? Yum!

I love olives, and I love their rather unique tate. I don't think I've ever come aross a pizza topping that I didn't like, and I don't think I will ever find one that I don't. I am pretty versatile when it comes to pizza. My husband makes really good ones with smoked oysters, shrimp, and Asian vegetables.
