I drive a truck that is leased to a company, the owner is in the Army stationed in Korea. He has a third party tax preparer/accountant do my payroll (i am his only employee). I have this feeling that my federal withholding and social security taxes have not been paid. Anybody know how I can check on this?

Are you asking if your employer remitted the taxes to the taxing authority or are you wondering if your employer withheld any taxes? If you're wondering if your employer remitted the taxes to the taxing authority; that is there responsibilty to see that it's been done, not you. Your responsibility is to properly complete your employment forms, such that they can withhold properly, including keeping your address current. Then at the end of the year, they will issue you either a W-2 or a 1099 and you withholding will be included on the form. If you are receiving paychecks and do not believe your withholding has been calculated correctly, then you need to discuss this with either your employer, or if they give you permission, the 3rd party tax preparer/accountant. Make sure that they have all the forms that you properly completed (W-4 & I-9 if you are an employee, I-9 and W-9 if you are an independent contractor). Best of luck, Gina

IRS - IRS
Call the IRS and talk to them about this situation. If they haven't maybe you can set something up with them when you talk to them. But if he has been withholding taxes from you and not paying into the IRS he could be in some trouble also.Good luck to you.
