Getting a new kitty! (12th time and hopefully posted)

For some reason I can't get this topic posted. I removed the picture, maybe that will help? Pity though, I would've loved to add her pic. For everyone who missed out on my topics of attending the labour of my neighbours cat, I have attended a labour of a beautiful and sweet cat my neighbour owns and she gave birth to three wonderfull little fluffballs! . After going through this lovely experience my parents told me I could have one, and I decided to take the first born kitten as she was the first kitten I have ever seen born in my life and because of the fact the mother cat wanted me around when giving birth to her. She would get anxious if I moved away from the birthbox and come out again, wanting to curl up on my lap on the couch with the kitten halfway out of her body! I decided it was better to stay next to the box and pet her. She looked me in the eyes, gave a loud meow and the first baby was born. It felt great, it felt like faith... it felt like Karma. So my new kitty is now officially called Karma. I feel like I did a good deed being there for her mommy and now she's coming home with me in a couple of weeks when she's all grown up. Do good and receive good. I added a pic where she is just one day old. YAY! Any other people getting new pets? I allready own cats and have owned a lot of them but this events are allways thrilling and exciting! .

yes, i'd say karma is meant for you to keep...she looks so cute in that weighing scale. i felt the same excitement when i witnessed for the first time our dog giving birth to 3 little pups. you see, for some reason...we always have had male dogs (about 4-5 of them one after the other) and so, when we had a female dog for the first time and she actually got preggy....me and my siblings just could not wait for the pups to come. before we got benjie (my "human" pup...lol), we get to care for a little kitty whom we named duchess. she's a tri-color, very cheeky, little ball of fluff too. i want to attach a photo of hers here but i don't know how...i'll post it in my profile and just have a look there.

Mylot hates my kitty! . I can upload any picture I like except this one. Changes the name of the file to just letters so that couldn't be it... one last try... nope, renamed it six times. I'm tended to use photobucket instead...

All my kitties are rescues. Oliver was a week old when he was found abandoned in a yard. We did the whole bottle thing and now he's a big, beautiful boy. I did rescue a few by picking them up around the complex my client lives at, but all of those found homes. I love my cats - and while I've never seen a kitten born, but Solo had to be born at the vets because his mother couldn't deliver him and she needed a c-section.

Aww.. so cute! It's great that you've rescued these cats, the next cat I was going to take into my home was supposed to be a rescue kitten but then this came up and it was so special that we decided to take this kitten. Otherwise I would've waited a little longer, but this little girl needs a home just as bad because there are so many kittens being born during the summer that it's hard to find homes for them. Not that my neighbour is the kind of woman who would put them out on the street, but she can't take on three more cats in her home. Good to hear that you love your cats so much, they are lucky to have you. Take care!

Wow that is great that you are getting to keep the first one, there were only two born when we last spoke on the issue, glad al are well. I bet you are just so excited. I know I would be. I lost my guinea pig on Friday, old age bless and he outlived his mate by 9months so pretty good going and I have two rabbits and two cats also, I said on Friday no more as it is heartbreaking when they go so no new ones for me I'm afraid. Karma is an excellent name. I bet you can't wait until old enough to go home with you. Live with the mother cat for as long as possible though so she gets a really good start in life. Ellie :D

I'll surely do that, I want her to have the best start in life she can possibly get. She gained only 4 grams the other day and the stressy type person I am I couldn't sleep and made sure to walk over and get her to a nipple every now and then. Today she gained 17 grams (!) so she has quite taken in the extra effort and is back on track again, yay! She weighs in at 210 grams today, 8 days old. I can't believe how fast the first week went, it's only a matter of time untill she goes home with me and luckily I can visit every day .

Thank you so much for your sweet and honest response, it's a good thing that there are dog-, cat-, rat-, ferret and who knows whatever pet lovers around the globe, we needn't all have the same intersts . Rottweilers are very cool and affectioned dogs. We used to have a dobermann for a short time who was neglected and abused untill he could move on to a new home. He was very loveable! Thanks for adding to the discussion!

Caty - Caty,my cat
My mom has 3 cats at the moment, one of them named Caty, was brought to us when she was little by my cousin, she looked so ugly, and skinny, she resembled to a rat.. then after we fed her and wash her she started to look cute...she was very mean since early ages, she was like a pitbull..she would grab your hand and not let go even if you lifted her in the air..she would be holding on to your hand with her teeth and paws.. Then she had 2 kittens, we kept the one that looks like her,and a friend of ours took the other one,who looked like his father... And then someday another cat appeared at our door, it's a male and he had a broken leg,my mom took him to the doctor but they couldn't do anything for him in this small city that we live in,so we went to the capital and he had an operation and now he can use his leg and we kept him in the house... So now we have 3 cats, I don't have pics of all of them so I will only upload some of the kittens when they were little, and one of their mom, the one i mentioned her name is Caty

She looks like a gorgeous and very loveable cat. I see what you mean with the pitbull thing, my youngest cat at the time being does the same thing! LOL . So nice of you to take in a cat with a broken leg, not everyone would do so even though I can't see how you can let a cat in distress stay outside suffering. I guess some people I will never get.

i think this kitten was meant for you to have...a gift from her mother...the mother seems to have a close bond with you and wanted u to have this one...i just heard that cats have intuition...they feel things and that is what the cat's mother felt...a connection with you...

That is exciteing you got to watch kittens being born. I have been able to do this myself. One mother cat gave birth to kittens that I was there for and she had them wee hours of the morning. I picked the second one born and I named him Panther. He was so adorable and I just loved to play with him he was such a frisky little guy always on the go. I wish kittens when they grow up can stay cats forever for it's a memory we don't ever want to let go of especially when they get old and move on to kitty heaven. I hope you enjoy your new kitten and have lots of fun with him. Good luck and take care.

Aww, I am so glad to hear that you are getting your new kitty. I remember when I was way younger, our cat Cookie had a little of kittens. Like you, I watched them be born, and I took to the firstborn as well. He was the biggest and also seemed like a bully when trying to feed from his mama. When he was only a few weeks old, he climed all the way up to the top bunk bed and would lay across my neck to sleep. I think really he chose me. He has been and always will be my favorite cat. I dont' have a scanner so I can't even try to put his pic in here but he was all grey with big green eyes. Of course he is gone now, but he did live for 15 years, he had a very happy and healty life. Enjoy your new baby ! Oh, and I think Karma is a purrfect name for your kitty.

Thank you so much for your lovely response, sounds like you know just how I felt when the babies were born. It's good to hear your kitten lived a happy and healthy life with you for 15 years, that's pretty old for a cat. Karma is actually the smallest in the litter so I look after her well to make sure she puts on enough weight. I'm going over to weigh her after I made the last two replies to this topic . Have a great day!

Concatulations on your new baby. I hope you wait until the kitten is at least 8 weeks old so it can learn as much as it can from its momma. Kittens are such joys to watch and help grow. Your new baby will get basic immunities from its momma and be healthier in the future. I'm sure you can visit as it grows. Do you know if it's a girl or a boy? Karma is a good name in either case. What color is it? Anxious to see pix as soon as you can.

Unfortunatly the pic still isn't working. We have looked under the tail and are 99% sure it's a girl. We'll leave her with her mom for 9 to 13 weeks, 13 weeks is how old a pure bred must be to leave the house and it also depends a bit on when my school holiday is. Most likely my school holiday is when she's about 10 or 11 weeks and I will have two weeks to get used to her and she to me; sounds like a great way to do it. I can visit her daily and I weigh her daily which is a lot of fun. If the picture won't work I'll be using my photobucket for it.
