accident....?

I was returning after attending a function , with my family.I was driving the car.A couple with a four year child was waiting at road side to cross over.As it was a main road , the car speed was between 60/70.All of a sudden , the child left her mother's hand ,and started crossing road...just a few meters away from my car.OH MY GOD ,,, with in seconds I though I will dash him...Could not apply breaks at that speed..Thanks GOD, no car was behind me, I took a sudden curve...and..all was ok. God Saved me, and the child,I could see in rare mirror, her mother, running in to bring the child back... Did you face any such incident in your life?
