Solitary Reality TV Show.. What Would You do if You Are Deprived of Everything!!

Solitary Voluntary Confinement - this is the pod that the contestants stay in.

I had just finished watching the Reality TV show that is aired on Channel 5 in Singapore. It's called Solitary V2.0. It is an interesting concept, I must say. And this is the first time that I am so intrigued by a reality TV show. Each contestants are placed into an individual pod (room - see picture below) deprived of all basic needs, like sleep, food, and water. They are also devoid of all human interactions and has only contact with a company known as Val. They are there with no idea of time (no watch, no clocks), no idea of day and night (no windows in the pods), no idea of the outside world (no TV, no radios). Besides that, the contestants are placed through a series of physical and mental torture. Watching the contestants endure physical and mental distress, but yet hanging on shows the real charactor of what human beings can endure under extreme distress cases. There is even an episode on how the contestants were brainwashed by the computer - Val, whereby contestants were challenged by everything that they believed to be as facts. Different people reacts in different manners to different situations. There are some contestants who gave up in the middle of the 'treatments' and 'conditions', there are some who endured, there are some who caused harm to the other contestants. Humans beings are just so complicated. It's a show definately worth watching. Catch it!=) How about you? What if you were to be placed in a similar situation? Would you break, survive or persevere on?

Not all stayed. Some of them quit on the first day itself, whereas some contestant lasted till the end of the competition. It all depends on your willpower and endurance. Afterall, the show is all about the human endurance and how far can the human body and mind pushed itself to its limits. Different people have different limits. And the weaker ones will give up halfway into the competition. THe stronger ones will survive. If I am not wrong, the competition lasted for 30 days, maximum.

I know about this reality show, it's being shown every sunday at 12 or 1am ^_^ I did watched abit here and there but i have not watched the whole episode b4, as i think it was quite boring.. But afetr i watched awhile and saw how the contestants are being punished for not being able to complete a task in a certain time, i dun think i'm able to take it too.. haha Being deprived of sleep and food, plus, they have to memorize things, and shift things around, keep doing the same things repeatedly, and also aiming to win that particular challenge so that they can be unharmed.. haha I think at most i can only reach the 2nd stage, and i guess the 1st stage is the easiest of all, just being lock up in a small box, and there's still water somemore.. haha =D

How could anybody withstand this type of mental and physical torture for a period of 1 month is totally beyond me. I too, won't be able to take this sort of abuse for more than 2 days! Lol, and I guess I won't be winning that big cash prize any moment! Haha.. Us Singaporeans are really 'soft' ain't we? I could take the no sleeping torture, I guess, but couple that with the deprivation of food and at the same times, we still have to think and do physical actions (like pushups) and IQ puzzles (like fixing the cubes), I don't think I will take it! Most of the times, after only 2 days of no sleeping, I will be super stoned and dizzy. Lol, I don't understand how they are able to withstand those sort of treatment! THat is what amazed me the most about the endurance level of the Americans. They rock man! Are they still showing this in Singapore? I don't seem to see the show anymore, no matter how late I sleep?

Haha.. There are asians in the show too, and one of the asians even won one of the stages.. hehe =D Yup, it's still being shown every sunday on channel 5, at 12am or 1am ^_^ Yeah, i think at most i can only survive 2 days without sleep, and once i dun sleep, my mind will auto shut off too, and my limbs will go weak too.. haha =D But i will still like to try it and experience even if it's just for a few days, and not for a month or week.. haha

Hehe. Not to worry.. I am very sure that Singapore would copy that concept one of these days. And then you can go for its audition!!

I think I saw one episode of this show before. I find it really boring. To sit and stare at the screen at them being in solitude. But I must agree with you on one thing though. Put in that position, I do not know if I can handle the mental stress of being there. And the prize money though attractive, is just not worth it. Imagine, if you do not have a strong mind, this little episode to win the money in your life, is gonna be haunting you for a long time to come. No point winning the money only to spend it on psychiatric treatment after the shows end.

It is not that I do not like these kinds of show. But the way this particular one was played out, it was, well, boring! I am sure there are better ways to make the show more interesting. It could be the way the obstacles are designed. Or the way the individual's behavior is presented to the screen. I dunno. Something is just missing from this show that makes it a little dry to sit through.

Lol I take it as you do not really like these type of 'psychological' game. Hehe I agree that most would find it boring, except for those who love to see how people endure under stress. Personally I love psycology and socialogy and I love to find out about people and what makes them tick. That is why I love this show so much! Well, money does really made the world goes round. I do not think it's worth it for that prize money, but it is sure worth it to find out how far can your endurance level goes. Anything is possible and well, sometimes we may also surprise ourselves, doing things that we do not think we would be able to do in normal circumstances. *shrugs* That could well be the rewarding factor of being in this game, besides the cash prize?

This reminds me of the tortur brought to me by my parents when they almost relocated me to a place i didn't like. I was deprived of internet. I eat and breathe internet so i guess from this alone i suffered a lot. I was deprived of food. The food i ate there were so minimal that i keep having stomach cramps. Because my situation made me somewhat depressed, i skipped some meals. I stayed in my room most of the time because i got no friends and i'm not even close to my relatives. I waited everyday as to when the hell they'll bring me back home. Now i'm back eating internet again.
