i just heard this on the news so i don't know all of the details but i thought that this was really incredible, they had mules that they kept and fed really well and they wanted to go on vacation but with the prices of gas you know that would have costed a lot...so they fixed this covered wagon up(like they did in the old days)and put a stove and bed back there and hooked it up to the mules and took a three month vacation i believe...and they said that it saved them like five hundred dollars in gas but it took the mules about two days to get as far as one car would get in a hour and a half..so that would be the drawback...so i was just wondering what you all think about this...thanks for taking the time out of your day to read my discussion and i hope that you all have a great day!

A trip like that could actually be a lot of fun. Near where I grew up, there was this amusement park that was Western style. They also offered wagon rides, horse drawn though. You could rent those for a couple of days and stop at pre-planned rest areas in the mountains around the area. I did this once with my class and once with my swim team. Each for a week. It was a lot of fun. It's kind of like camping, lol.

hi jhl930 that sounds interesting and I have heard that there is some company back east thst often starts people out in a wagon train like in the old west, horses, and wagons, and all and they follow one of the old postal trails. As I understand it they dont have to pay a lot for getting one of the wagons and horses but they have to live about like they did during the time of the wagon trains I think that would be a lot of fun and really make people think a bout how different things are today. they did not get very far each day but they really must have seen the country first hand.

We have lived before without gas.. we are moving backwards, we can survive and there are other options than using gas and pay high amounts of money for it. That is a great story and I bet they enjoyed the trip even more.
