As some of you know my daughter (18) had a full blown grand mal seizure two months ago while visiting her father in MO. She is scheduled for an EEG tomorrow afternoon. I am so nervous and she is scared. I believe that she is ok and that they will find she is fine. I believe it is in God's hands and he is plenty capable of taking care of things...doesn't mean as a mother I am not concerned or nervous cause I am. How would you feel if it was your child having an EEG?

I wouldn't worry too much. It's totally non-invasive and relatively painless (there is a bit of a pinprick when they attach the electrodes). If they're checking for epilepsy, they'll just attach the electrodes and flash a light at 3-5 times per second (the frequency of alpha waves in the brain). It won't have any effect on her at all.

I don't remember the pinpricks, but I do remember them gluing the dang electrodes to my head, and it making a mess of my hair. I was washing that goop out of my hair for DAYS!!

I hope she is ok. My nephew had a really bad seizure and they put him on meds and kept doing EEG's and MRIs but that has been about 10 years ago and he never did have any more.

I am missing part of my brain. I was just born without it. I hae had hundreds of EEG's, and brain scans and MRI scans. No big deal at all. I still have the print-outs of my brain-waves in my scrap book. I hope verything went OK today. I see that my husand left a comment on this discussion also. She is in our prayers.

thank you. As you can see from my other discussion things went awry today. We discovered other health issues we were not prepared for.

By the time I'm responding to this I'm sure you'd daughter will have had her test and I hope that all was fine.
If it were one of my kids due for a test like this I'd be apprehensive but just glad that a test would show up anything that were wrong. We're really very lucky that we have all this medical science available to us so that we have early warning of any problems and have the chance to do something about it if the tests show anything untoward.

I am not sure what a EEG is, but any medical precedure can be scary. And of course as her mother you would be nervous. We know that God will never put more on us than we can bare, and as a human he understands your concern,
Just pray and leave it in God's hands, everything will be okay.
I will keep you and your daughter in my prayers. Prayer is powerful.

I just had the same thing happen to me in April. I went through CAT Scans, MRIs, an MRA, and a 48 hour EEG. They hooked up a bunch of wires to my head that were attatched to a battery pack and another little pack that bundled the wires.
It doesn't hurt at all.
Hopefully your daughter doesn't have to go through the 48 hour ordeal, just because it a just a pain. ( Not literally)
If she is just going to have one done and come home without wires, it's a piece of cake so to speak. This type will not hurt her at all either, the tests are not invasive at all, and certainly not painful.
I hope all her tests turn out good for both of you, I am also a Mom and know how it feels to worry about your children. My oldest is 18 and my youngest is 5. The five year old had a hernia that she was born with, it didnt' show up until she was 4. She had to have surgery, I was petrified ! It was all over in 45 minutes and she is great !
Don't worry , and don't be afraid. When you ask God to watch out for you , He will.
God Bless !

Thanks for the encouragment. I hope that they don't do the 48 hour thing cause we are traveling clear across Jacksonville (huge town) from the westside to the beaches (about a 30-35 minute drive) that I sure don't want to repeat again this week I will of course if need be but would rather not.
