“Steer clear of someone whose life you can run, who never makes demands counter to yours. It’s good to have a doormat in the home, but not if it’s your husband." Do you agree??

I think everybody (read every partner) wishes that he/she should have a complete command on the other fellow. No body wants to be challanged and retailiated. Till such time, resistance is not shown, everything is obeyed religiously, you are good guy/girl, but the moment you start raising your voice, start counter-attack, you become a bad girl/boy. Everyone wants to dominate in a married life and even if one succeeds for few hours, he/she feels happy that he/she has won the battle. The battle of attiration goes on in a married life with its ups and downs.

Henpacked husands are good for their respective wives. Every wife love to have a henpacked hushand and I think, if one has to survive and leave peacefully and happily it is better to obey orders and challange her........LOL!

I totally agree! I've been trying to get that through to my husband for years. I don't know if it was the way they were raised or what but he has a hard time standing up for what he wants with me. He avoids confrontation. Even on stuff he likes or wants to do he often is afraid to say anything. I'm slowing gaining ground with him. I don't want him to be unhappy just so I can be happy. I would rather work together and compromise so we both can be happy.

That's my point exactly. I get you are so understanding and in spite of that he is 'afraid'. I think by basic nature he is like that, be it in family or outside it. Sometimes it feels to cater to askings... wish you a happy married life.
