I am not strong in English but learning is an ongoing process. hey this i nice to know that you are interested in learning english. The best way to learn are to watch BBC, CNN and watch English movies(try to speak or listen to Dialogs carefully and imitate them) and read english newspapers. For dictionary visit www.m-w.com. Do you agree with this, Mylot members?

Hi klmb1, welcome to mylot. I think the best way is to post discussions and respond to as many as you can. The more you write the more experience you will get practicing your English. This is a great place to do that.

Hello klmybl. To pass either CET4 or CET6, what is the most important for you to do is to do as many genuine test papers or mock papers as possible while you are reciting new words to help enlarge your vocabulary. It is very helpful to do test papers. You are supposed to do at least one set of papers every day if you want to pass it. You know, listening is a very important part as well as the reading comprehension, fast reading, because these two parts occupy more points in the test, namely 35% respectively. But you cannot ignore the CLoze part as well as the translation part and error correction, which make up of another 30%. Right now the exam in the first half of the year is done. I am wondering whether you have already passed it. I hope that you are lucky enough to be a success and head for the CET6 to be held in December this year. Happy learning and posting, dear friend.

hello, klmybl.I am a Chinese girl too.I had grduated this summer.I hope my suggest will help you. My oral english is not so good. But my english exam is better than my oral english. My cet-4 score is 539,cet-6 score is 507.I am content my scores although it isn`t passed the oral scores. In my opinion,if you wanna pass the cet,the most important thing is abundant vocabulary. So I suggust you`d better buy a vocabulary dictionary, and try you best to master them.Of sure, they are dull, but, this is chinese exam system. We have to adjust it instead change it. Secondly, you should do more exercise to practice your exam ability.Limit your time when you finish your exam, and you must pay attention to your reading speed. At last, you should have enough congfident about yourself.Rember:if you think you can ,you can! ALL THE BEST!

i have just gone through CET-4 in June. Although a little nervous, i hope i can get a score more than 600 and enter the oral test. Through my experience, you should recite enough words which CET-4 requests. And the most important part of this exam is listening and reading. u can practice listening every like VOA, BBC and you should insist on reading to improve your ability. The last tip is you can recite some good articles to develop your writing ability. Bless you to pass CET-4!

I have recommended the following ideas to a mylotter who has ask on how to improve his/her English. I am not sure if you'll look at his/her discussion so I copied it here. I hope you'll try to consider it especially the website that I recommend at the bottom of this response. It is free of charge and you'll be able to talk to a native speaker if you wish. Anyway, i would like to know first which skill would you like to learn: listening, speaking, writing or reading.??? For listening skill, you need to listen to English songs and/or watch TV programs or movies to enhance your listening skill. The more you listen to it, the more your ear will be used to hearing the English words. For speaking, reading newspaper is good, why not reading it aloud. If you don't know the word, write it down and look it up in the dictionary. Try reading it using the phonitics you'll also find in the dictionary. Try reading aloud. Do sing English songs too and always use the new English words you have learned so that you'll never forget them. For your writing skills, always participate in mylot. Grammatical errors nobody will correct you but eventually you'll find out your mistakes. Try looking for an e-mail pal in foreign countries...or write a daily journal. For your reading skills, keep on reading interesting books. If books are too long and boring, newspaper is a very good source of interesting articles. I would like to recommend you also to a website where you'll have the chance to improve all four skills I have mentioned. It is free to join. It is a language learning community. They'll never ask for payment. Here is the site: www.livemocha.com Do try to explore the site. You might like it. I have tried it already. I am learning Chinese Mandarin in that site. Since you want to pass a CET-4 exam, I suggest you go to a school that teaches student to pass such exam so you;ll be guided properly. Take care

hello klmyb1, English is not that hard to learn. I learn English by using my eyes, ears and mouth. why? because you have to use this 3 senses to gain master in english such as, listen to english music while you read english novels and you have to speak the words that you see by your eyes for the brain to catch it more quickly. try this. Its work for me! thanks for asking. hope you all the best!.
