Trade up iPhone for iPhone 3g

I have the regular iPhone and I am considering trading up for the iPhone 3g. My contract won't be up yet, but do you think it would be worth it. I'm happy with my 8gb iPhone but It would be nice to have more space and GPS. I'm definitely one for the latest technology. Any takes?
