What could I make that's an easy craft involving fish? I would appreciate any and all ideas since I try to make something for him with fish as a theme for each birthday. So far I've helped him buy a fishing license, bought fish-shaped glass plates, and bought diabetic-flavored fish candies. He has also gotten a wooden pole holder from me. So I'm running out of fish ideas. I thought something crafty from now on would be good since I don't have the money I used to have. Thanks and takea care.

Get him a worm farm so that he can grow his own bait and you can also get rid of your vegetable scraps. I believe it is called vermicomposting. The end product will be great for gardening or even your house plants. It is a win win project.

Interesting concept. I wonder if he would take care of a worm farm. He lives by himself. He has a mental age of 12 and he has people come in who assist him. If his worms got out, I bet it would freak his aides out! Vericomposting does sound cool. I'll look into it, talk it over with him. I'd have to do it first, teach him and see if he would keep it going. That would be more of a long term project than a present, but it does sound very cool. I'll check into it when I have time. Thanks.

You can try paper art or make him a door mat with a fish-sea or lake pattern.
Or personalize mug, or string plastic fishes or water related ornaments and make him a mini curtain or chime or necklace. You are one sweet sibling. Good day.

Those all sound like fun. I'm getting lots of birthday ideas for many years to come. Thanks and thanks for the complement.

how about making a fish pinata for his birthday? or even one on a smaller scale. just use a couple of balloons. you could cross stitch a picture of a fish (i am sure you could find one online) my dad likes to fish too so one year i bought him some gummy worms :-) i also bought a cheap wooden picture frame at a dollar store and decorated it with a wood cutout of a fish and put a pic of my daughter in it (she used to like fishing with her grandpa when she was younger) and she is holding a fish (in the pic).
hope this helps.

I'll have to see if they have gummy diabetic worms/fish. Picture frame with him and/or a friend holding a fish he caught would be cool. Cross-stitch fish might be OK, but I like the other suggestions better.

Sounds like you have almost done it all. Have you tried buying him a beta? They are easy to care for and nice to watch. you can also make a cd ROM fish. Check here to see how.

Since he has never taken care of a live fish and he likes fish mostly to eat, not sure about the first suggestion. The second one sounds interesting. Thanks.

Why don't you make him a toy aquarium using old cardboard boxes like those of pringles or picknick or a medium sized box? you just have to cut out the front a bit which will serve as the viewing area for the fishes and you can make the fishes out of paper or something else. Or if that doesn't fit your taste why not make him fish biscuits or a trip to the local aquarium?

Those all sound interesting.I only wish we had a local acquarium, the cloest one is in Canada, over 50 miles away and we live in the states, Gas and current exchange rate, wish I had thought of that before 9/11. Thanks and take care.
