Do you catch yourself saying things your Mom said to you as a kid?

I HATE IT! I hear myself saying some of the same things my Mom used to say to me. "Because I said so!" "Not in my house!" etc.etc. HELP. Please tell me I'm not the only one.

most probably everyone who has been growing up with their mom's most of their lives will react the way she has...in otherwords, there are times when i think like my mother, and that i can do nothing about, i am a male, but my thinking can be agreeable to some woman, except that i have a little masculine thoughts...(",)

Yes, I do feel that way sometimes and I am sure it will be more in years to come. So far I have used 'Because I said so!' because I get so many 'why, why, why's' in a day?! I also find my daughter is like me when I was little as mum is often quick to point out and it is fun speaking to her about the memories and similar behaviour like when we used to go out and I would see I doll I liked and would be very unhappy if mum didn't get it, it is like 'deja vu' now with mine

Oh I wish I had a daughter to buy dolls for! You are very lucky to have that Mother/Daughter relationship with someone.

Yes... This is called Mom's revenge. When I was small and heard these sayings I swore I would never be like her and use those lines on my kids. She always would say "Just wait until you have kids of your own!" Not only do I say the same things, I look like her and I'm acting like her. I suppose I'm turing into her which is not a bad thing, but I do think its ironic that it has taken me 40 years to realize that Mom was usually right and knew what she was talking about.

Mom's revenge. I like that! Oh, when I was growing up I said I'd never be like my Mom too. We probably all said that, but we probably all did it anyway. :-)

jasyjen hi oh yes I have, and my son used to say you sound like grandma and I would think ohmyG I do, I hated it but yet as I have grown older I have found my mom was one pretty smart lady and a lot of what I did not used to like, I feel thesame way as she does. God helps him who helps himself, What goes around comes around. Pray but keep on working. these were all sayings she used to use, and I have caught myself using them too.

LOL, my mother has somehow been speaking through my lips for years now! At least I managed to retain some of the better ones like "If you fall and kill yourself, don't come crying to me!" I guess the truth is that we hear it so much while we're growing up it becomes hard coded in our heads.
