It really depends. I just so happens to own a DS. So here's the thing, if you're in it for games and interactivity of games, choose DS. If you're for multifunction capabilities and high-end graphics games, choose PSP. I've chosen a DS over a PSP because I'm all about games, games that I will never be able to play if I choose PSP, like pokemon. Anyways, there's a working DS emulator now, with microphone recognition, so if you have a good PC, just play with an emulator, although there's no fun using the mouse, it's best to play it with the stylus. So if you're in it for the games and interactivity, then choose a DS. If you want an multimedia tool that can play games as well, choose a PSP.

Any chance that you can get both? Both handhelds have their distinct advantage and disadvantages but, if your in it for the game, there are also games that can only be played for each one.

Echoing what the others are saying. I have a DS and the boyfriend has a PSP, and we're both happy with what we have. If you're a gamer who likes quirky games and want to play just for fun, get the DS. It's more of a multiplayer gaming tool than the PSP is. On the other hand, if you prefer graphics and you're looking for the Swiss Army knife of gaming, you'd be best off with the PSP. Price wise, the PSP is more expensive than the DS (where I am at least) but it's got more functions than the DS. As mentioned by everyone, you CAN do more things on the PSP, but if you're like me, your phone handles your music anyway. At the end of the day, it depends on: 1. Your budget 2. Your preferred games 3. Short time gaming or long bouts? If you're playing a game for a short while, best to get the DS, in my opinion. the PSP is meant for long bouts of gaming.

Nintendo DS. It's much more flexible than the PSP. Of course, I've never even tried a PSP, so I may be a bit biased.

I've always been Nintendo so it was DS for me, but I do think the PSP might be better if it doesn't matter to you to be able to play Nintendo games like Mario and Zelda. PSP plays movies, for one thing, which to me is a big plus.

I have both a psp and ds but i would say a ds is better because of the interactivity and light-heartedness about it so it is a great laugh with a bunch of mates
