How would you know if you discussion is responded?

The thing is that if you have posted a lot of discussions already and Im thinking now i have 20 posts but then I cant accomodate them that easily, I still have to every single discussion to know if theres anybody who responded. Im not good at remembering how many responses the discussions have before thats why its hard for me to notice the changes. Please if you have anyAid for this try helping me. Thank you very much!

I get an email telling me if someone has responded to my discussion.

You could turn on notifications in your preferences and you'd get an email whenever someone responds. 
I have found this quite unnecessary as you can always go to discussionsstarted and the discussions with the last response will appear at the top of the list and you can also see who last responded before you go into the discussion so you kinda know that way.
I use notifications to monitor any comments to my responses and I find it comes in handy that way
