Ich!

My fish apparently have Ich. The bottle of treatment says to remove the filter media. Do you think I should remove the BioWheel too?
What are the chances that my poor fishies will survive? I have 7 fish and they all seem to be spotted to one extent or another.
What causes Ich? Did one of my latest acquisitions bring it in?

You want to remove the carbon or it will filter the meds out of the water. When you are finished medicating the tank and the fish are cured then you can put the carbon back in the tank. You will also want to increase aeration and raise the them up to 84 degrees. This will let the ick go through it's life cycle faster and also the ick cannot stank that high a temp very well. Before yo start the treatment , (you should do a good water change and gravel vac to get rid of the ick in the gravel) Do not do more than about a 30% water change and make sure that the temp is about the same or higher plus treat the water for chlorine and chloramine (if there is any in your water system).
