We used coupons all the time. However, what we have been doing lately is buying things we use all the time in bulk when they are on sale.

Usually when we me and my fiance go with my mom to Food Lion we look for things that are on MVP to save a little money,or when we go with her to Wal Mart she almost always has some coupons that she can use to save some money, and when you do a couple hundred dollars worth of shopping every two weeks, every little bit you save helps whether it be with coupons or a MVP card or a savings card to another well known grocery store.

So true. Every bit does count. If you can save $200 a month on groceries by using discounts and coupons, that is $2400 in a year. That is like getting an extra pay check or two in a year.

Buying things when on sale is also good if you are trying to save money. We used discount card on our grocery purchases. It helps a lot.

Yes, we do the same. Our grocery store has a Plus card where you get discounts if you are a member. We also use the grocery store credit card and for every $100 spent in groceries we get a gas fill up with $.15 off per gallon.

we pretty much only buy stuff on sale when it comes to food. we do NOT use coupons as generally the store brand is much cheaper than the cents off coupon would be. we go to a butcher for our meat and generally shop around for the best prices. we go to a no frills type of grocery store too (cheaper than the classier ones, less frills, no special treatments like bags, etc)

Lots of good ideas. We don't have any of those less frills typr of stores around where we live.

Oh it is so hard! Grocerys are so expensive. I plan before I go. On the News today ,there was a story on this very topic, and one of the things that they recommened was staying away from the free tastes. Most of the time the stuff they are tasting is not really a bargin, but a way to get you to buy....

What fun is grocery shopping if you don't get to buy cookies and ice-cream:) LOL...I know, though, eliminating guilty pleasueres and only getting the necessities sure would save a bunch. We stopped getting sodas at when we go out to eat and only get water. That saves us $4+ every time we eat out.
