Do you ever watch the show where they tear peoples homes down, send them on vacation and a week later they have a brand spanking new home all because the family has problems - financial, health, their home is not liveable, etc, etc. Its a good cause, but it seems that one recipient family's $450,000 home in Georgia is now in foreclosure. It seems that this particular family took out a loan on this house and now can't pay for it. These families receive new homes, furniture and all, sometimes scholarships for the kids, new vehicles and so on. I often wonder how they are expected to pay for the upkeep and taxes on these new homes down the road? Do you suppose very many of the recipients of this very generous show actually get to keep all they have been given or do you think that they eventually lose it?

You're talking about the People's home being demolished and rebuilt from the ground up?! Wow..I haven't seen one of those Programmes! But I'd sometimes watch the UK TV makeover shows where they renovate the Interior and/or Garden, and it's nice to see someone's place get turned around from something they didn't like to something they seem really happy to have done..Sometimes as the work goes along,You'll get an idea of how much the project costs-let's face it,Putting a team of Maybe 10-20+ professional tradespeople,Craftworkers and Designers to work on a job is going to be expensive, before even considering the materials used! But Generally, they don't indicate where the Money comes from to pay for it..Do the Family involved Pay? Does the TV Company Cover it? That's sad that they overextended and could lose it..that saying is true.."Be careful what you wish For-You Just might get it.."

It is paid for by the tv show and other sponsors. AS far as I know the family pays nothing. It takes 100's of people to get it accomplished in one week. It is for a good cause, but sometimes like now it backfires when the family can't keep up with the expenses later on.

I love that show! I love the way they help the families in need. It's very sad that some of the participants end up losing there homes. I honestly think they should offer them help on how to manage there finances as well. It might be overwhelming for them to go from almost nothing to everything they have always wanted in a week's time. If they taught them how to manage their money it would help alot more. Have a wonderful night!

Maybe they do offer them help, we just don't see that end of it. Obviously if they do, it didn't work with thei particular family. Thanks!

I wondered about things like that too. I've seen some where they get the whole new house thing plus a new car and I sit there thinking how wonderful it is BUT...how is that single mom of 5 supposed to pay taxes and upkeep for the home and car insurance on the brand new vehicle? I know those shows mean well and maybe they do help the people advance in life enough to be able to afford the higher bills but I have thought that they may do more harm than good at times.

I highly doubt that they will advance these peole enough to be able to afford these luxurious homes complete with swimming pools, exercise rooms, etc, etc. I seriously hope I'm wrong. I think in the end they do more harm than good.

There are probably some who change their lives enough to keep up with the new things and others who can't deal with it, so they lose it. Frankly, I'd be happy if someone just showed up one day and cleaned the house for me!
